Newhouse Hardware White 2-Note Wired Mechanical Door Bell Chime CHM1

The chime on my old doorbell broke so I wanted to replace it with an old fashioned, two-note doorbell, not an electronic one. This one works great. I wanted to keep my original wooden cover, so I did not use the white plastic cover it comes with. With just a Phillips screwdriver, I unscrewed the wires and removed the old chime from the wall. The screw holes on the new one did not line up with the old one, but that's ok for me since the doorbell cover I have is oversized and covered up the old screw holes. After screwing the new one to the wall and attaching the wires, I tested it out and it sounds great. I did not turn off the power as stated in the instructions. I used a multimeter to confirm there was no electricity going to the wires before I unscrewed them. That's expected since the doorbell button controls flow of electricity.

Inexpensive and easy to install. Replaced two units that burned out when outdoor ringer button got stuck in on position. Also burned out the transformer. Look well built and sound like you would expect…clear ding-dong.

This was a drop in replacement for my old chime. Although this chime was replacing an old chime with a wooden cover, it has a modern look. I purchased a home where apparently the previous owner installed a ring door bell. I never had a ring door bell, but when I started setting up the app, I discovered that the previous installation never used the old doorbell wiring and that the previous owner was just using the ring on wifi and not hardwired so that the battery was not being continuously charged. I thought perhaps he did this because the original doorbell wiring was shorted out or disconnected even though the old doorbells were still attached to the house. When I found the old doorbell transformer in the basement by the breaker box and that it was still giving off 17v, I decided that I should try to reconnect the old door bell system to see if I could get the Ring door bell to work with it and so that it could both charge the ring door bell and be able to ring a physical chime. The old chime was thrown out during renovation because I didn't believed it worked as the previous owner never used it, so I purchased this simple Newhouse Hardware CHM1 Door Bell Chime as a replacement. It was very simple to install and just needed to connect the correct wiring from the front and back door. To my surprise once I hooked it up and did a test ring from the front door, it rang. I was even more surprised when the back doorbell worked as well. The best surprise was when I then connected the front wiring to the Ring doorbell and again it worked, and it was charging the Ring doorbell battery. I was so pleased that everything worked. So even if there is no wifi in the house, the physical chime will still ring with the Ring door bell. It also has a modern look so it goes well with the renovation.

Two units, both with cold solder joints on all three terminals. They'd likely work for a few years like that, but those joints would eventually fail if not re-soldered. A simple fix for me, but something to consider for others not equipped for soldering. This issue likely plagues many chimes in this price range, but it's worth knowing it may be present on this model. Otherwise they seem to be of decent quality and the chimes sound quite pleasing.

No frills doorbell chime, works and loud enough. The sound comes from a rod hitting metal plates which sounds more natural than the ones that use a speaker. Measure the size of the chime you are replacing as you may need to paint the area before if the old chime is bigger than this one

And a most pleasant surprise, the mounting bracket holes lined up perfectly with the old chime so I didn't need to put in wall anchors. A five minute job from removal of old and install of new. A nice update to replace an old yellowed cover and a weak ringing bell for very little cost.

Worked fine. Made a lot of noise with a ring wired door bell. Wired in to the original wiring. Fit good. Size was smaller the the old on.

Check specs to be sure it matches your old system. Replaced my 30 year old system and much improved sound. Easy installation.

Works with Google nest doorbell in India. Just install a transformer to convert 220V AC to 18V AC. Then connect this doorbell to the transformer output with Google nest doorbell. Price is expensive since it needs to be imported from USA. But there is no other choice.

This doorbell arrived damaged as one of the tone bar supports was broken and I am reluctent to return it as it would cost almost its value. It should have been backaged for posting
