Steel, solid and appears to be quality. Painted black and lookd good. Drilled 3 holes w/o issues. Would rate 5 star but need more time with product first.

These are very well made and sturdy. I used the smaller of the two sizes with a 20v DeWalt cordless drill, which is a very powerful drill. I used the bit to plant in tough North Texas soil, which is less like soil and more like rock-filled clay - the most difficult substance one can imagine to plant in, aside from concrete. This auger made the job easier, I was able to break up this impossible soil and remove the excess dirt with a shovel. It’s a nearly impossible job otherwise. I made three large holes to plant shrubs that came in 2 gallon buckets, so the holes were about 18” in diameter and maybe 14” deep, leaving plenty of room to add good soil around the new plants. One thing to note, when you hit rocks or roots or just tough sticky clay, the drill will kick back with considerable force, and I’ve got a sore shoulder and wrists from that. After a while you learn to be less aggressive with the drilling and take smaller bites to avoid injury. If your drill has a two-speed gearbox, use the lower, higher torque setting, especially in tough soils, but please use caution! In all, this is a great tool that makes the difficult job of digging in tough earth much easier.

Product is HD enough to do the job designed to do. It arrived on time, as described, and undamaged. Product meets my expectations. It will serve my needs perfectly. Length is perfect. Product will save me a lot of time.

Nice products, well-made. The 1.6” auger made planting bulbs a tolerable task. 😉 Works well with my Milwaukee 18v cordless drill.

Had to use these in clay muddy terrain and regular soil. Powers thru with a good drill and battery.

These items have made planting garden center vegetable starters so easy, or breaking up my raised gardens in the spring and fall before and after season.

I can't compare this to other products as I've never used anything like this before. It was great to receive 2 different sizes. I needed to dig a hole for an in ground gate latch. I was really trying to keep my expectations in check, my drill is cheap, I have all sorts of hand and back problems, I've never done anything like this before, I didn't know if there was cement or giant rocks down there... this tool made it so easy! I poured water over the area to soften the soil then used the small one first and then the big one and I was able to make a decent size 22cm-ish deep hole in less than 20 minutes with minimal struggles, fill it with cement and a pole, and emasculate every man I've ever met. All in a days work. 10/10.

🥵After struggling all day to remove a very old bush root ball, I ordered one of these via next day delivery. 🚚 Whereas before, I couldn’t get to the deep roots with my spade, iron bar or mattock, I used the large auger to dig down each side of a root allowing me to get my tree croppers in. 👍 Job completed in lest than an hour 😊 In terms of quality and sturdiness, I’d say I gave it a tough old test (inc encountering the odd stone 😬) hence 5 stars.

I used this to drill holes in the ground so I can apply fertilizer sticks. Worked very well.
