Since I was sharing w/ a couple friends"On a 1-10 scale these get a -5. The only reason I have not given a lower score is my assumption that they're not poisonous. I'm no newbie to making vanilla extract. I make it. I give it away. Every time I buy vanilla beans, they smell exquisite. That vanilla aroma is everything. These smell nothing like that. I can't even use this 100 proof vodka for bottom shelf drinks. It has a horrible flavor. Usually, after a week of the vanilla beans being in the vodka there's a lovely Amber liquid that smells heavenly. This time I opened the vanilla bean package it smelled acidic. Even after I scraped the vanilla beans the smell was the same. Nothing like vanilla... more like sour water. I decided to try it anyway. I shouldn't have wasted the vodka. The photo of the vanilla beans in the vodka is after a week of soaking. There's no smell or flavor. These are junk. Do not buy these. The beans in my hand were the largest of the 10. DON'T BUY THESE!"

These are some nice beans! Moist, aromatic, juicy! No mold, thank god! Read others reviews and was concerned about that! Making vanilla extract. Their marinating now. We'll see how it goes. Gonna order more right now! I just think there should be more. They're a little short in length too. That's why only 4 stars.

I tried 3 kinds of vanilla beans for making my own extract. I do prefer the Madagascar cultivar as it is a more robust complex odor, but the Tahitian smelled very much like vanilla. I could use it in baked goods. Also notable, my 10 beans were 12, and the weight was 35 gm as opposed to 21-23 grams for other varieties and brands of M. vanilla. I haven't had enough time to make a comparison of taste. I didn't see any benefit in using A grade at all. Also, I snipped the beans directly into my jars as they kept hanging up in the funnel neck. I made 4 bottles from a 1.75 l of Vodka so not quite a full 16 oz per package. Because of the extra weight, this variety used 12 gm Vodka per gm of vanilla bean, as opposed to around 18 for the other packages. I tried a brand for 30$ as opposed to 23$ which was minimally better smelling (after 4 weeks), but for the money, I think this brand was great.

Oh My Gosh! When I Opened the package the beautiful aroma of vanilla wafted out. They were all plump whole beans that are soft, very fragrant and packed with those awesome little flavor bombs that make every dish you use them in just over the top special. They were vacuum packed to preserve their fresh aroma and flavor. I will definitely be buying more of these

After two weeks in high proof vodka, pure vanilla extract was made! It’s def going to get better with age. Nothing like the grocery “vanilla extract”. I have added a couple drops to a pot of coffee. Can’t wait to make cookies with it.

as you can see, beans in the background look good. but turn them sideways and there’s NOTHING IN THEM. ordered five bags of ten. i’ve ordered before and they were great. this time? i want my money back.edit - photo added - i tried to see if these beans would make ANY salvageable extract - and its oozing this weird, sticky, wormy looking stuff. does anyone know what that is?!?! i’m so grossed out with this order! it doesn’t even smell like vanilla! my friend said it smelled like licorice!

This is the second time I have ordered Grade B vanilla beens, so not an expert. Shipping was fast, included 10 beans as advertised and they smell great.However .... These seem narrower than the ones I bought from a different sources. These maybe ... A touch over a 1/4 inch wide.Probably won't buy from this source again.
