It worked for 2 months.
I really liked this heater at first but 2 months in use now and it doesn't work correctly anymore, save your money and buy a different one. I would return it if I could.Problems with this heater:- It is not accurate, or consistent, may as not even have a temperature knob as it doesn't work.- 2 months of use and water is leaking into the inside glass which makes this heater no long useful in anywayThis is the first time I have used this brand of heater and will be the last. I decided to give it a try as I have liked other Hydor products in the past but this heater is no good, I would not recommend it to anyone.

Avoid!!
I used a K-type thermocouple to adjust this to the temperature I actually wanted, since the dial on the heater is a good 10+ degrees f off. Otherwise it seems to be very consistent once set, so I dont actually see this as too big a deal once you get it adjusted. I'd recommend not just dumping it in a running aquarium though, calibrate it in a bucket or something.Edit: a month later and it will no longer maintain the temperature in my tank. It's slowly cooling down. Avoid this heater. Also it's only 250w not 300 as advertised. Junk!

Doesn't Work, Even lowest temp Overheats aquarium
This is a terrible product that doesn't work.I set it to 75 degrees. 36 hours later, my digital thermometer read 87.1 degrees. I turned it down to the LOWEST temperature setting. Same problem.DO NOT TRY THIS DEFECTIVELY DESIGNED PRODUCT. Unless you want a bunch of dead fish of course!

Hydor 400 watt aquarium heater
I am running two of these 400 W hydor heaters in my 75 gallon discus community tank. Two of them only to have a back up just in case and for more even heating. I run a ink bird controller that turns them on and off automatically as a extra safety so I can’t say how accurate the built-in thermostat is on these long term. I did calibrate them both individually first though and I didn’t have any problem. They are very powerful and do not have to run very long to get the temperature up. There is no glow from them at all except for the neon light which I do like very much. The safety feature of them not overheating if the water gets too low was a selling point for me. I had a fluval 300 watt melt the hanger and explode once. These heaters are right up there in quality with Fluval products. I would purchase them again.

Only lasted three months !!!
I had heard good thing about Hydor, but the truth is, the 300 watt heater I bought failed after only three months in our 75 gallon cichlid tank. When I emailed Hydor for support, I go NO ANSWER at all.Recommendation? DON'T BUY A HYDOR, OBVIOUSLY A POOR PRODUCT AND POOR SUPPORT.
