Finally, a great book on Prolog
I can't believe I discover this book only now. This is so much better than other tutorials like "learn prolog now", that teach you prolog like if it were Fortran, making '=' the center of the language, when it is not. You should actually ignore "=" and focus on terms unification instead: assert the facts, and match that knowledge using the right entailment patterns. Unification is the cornerstone, and the most relevant one-page introduction to Prolog is still Colmerauer's "menu". That is also the first page of Mr. Bramer's book. From there, it's just a matter of mastering built-in predicates that will make the programming easier. And that is also what Mr. Bramer does, masterfully. I strongly recommend this book to any student of Prolog.

very good introductory book
I was reading another book which uses prolog to illustrate basic concepts.Never learn the language before, I actually find it hard to follow the examples in the book which leaves me no choice but to find some book that can quickly get me acquainted with its basic ideas. That's how I ran across this book and to my great pleasure I find it very easy to read and follow the examples. The chapters are organized in logical ways and all examples are easy to understand, more important it avoids many arcane aspects of the languages and try to focus on bring on a general big picture instead. The last two chapters summarizes what have been covered with two good examples on natural language processing as well as a sample shell and is both interesting and pedagogical.I quickly finished the book in 2 days and so happy that I can go back to resume my original book and all the examples become so clear all of a sudden. And I really feel thankful for this good introductory book!
