Q: Will this fit securely with a water bottle on the top tube of my bike?

I currently ride with this bottle cage wrapped around the top tube of my bike, and it works really pretty well. The only thing I struggle with is getting the water bottle back into the cage sometimes.

Q: Can this holder be mounted in conventional water bottle holes?

I believe the point of this mound is so it can be mounted in places where holes don’t exist. You should look for a different item if you want it to mount to holes.

Q: I want to mount a large insulated water bottle. The diameter of the bottle is 3 inches. Would it fit in this?

Mine is about 2-3/4" ID but it is pretty springy and I think you could easily stuff a 3" OD bottle in. The material might easily take the load, or the material might fatigue after awhile. My hunch would be it can take it. I've been using a regular Sam's Club 20oz clear plastic water bottle with the blue twist off cap in mine for quite awhile and have to stuff it down in, but never measured it and don't have any on hand to measure at the moment. It just goes in the recyclables and it don't have to be washed.

Q: Has anyone tried attaching it to the stem? Is the distance between the straps adjustable?

I have two on the stem and one on the left fork. One is a little higher than the other on the stem but I have a 61cm with plenty of stem. On a short stem you could just mount one, and possibly none imo. I recall it being rather tricky to do the wraps, and cut some off to tidy things up. I left them on over winter, and as we are already in high heat again I'm glad of that.
