Park Tool Freewheel Remover: Sun Tour 2 Notch

Unfortunately the lugs did not fit the cassette I was trying to remove.However, I could not afford the time to return it, or look for another one.I had to file the lugs, very slightly, to make it fit. It worked a treat.It is good quality metal and I doubt I weakened it much by the amount I had to file off.I have no idea why it would not fit, but it was no real effort to file it slightly.I now have an extractor for that type of cassette that I never had before. Great.

I bought this Park Tool freewheel remover because the “super B” cheaper one I had purchased snapped on first use.The Park Tool version is miles better and completely worth the money. It is sturdy and was well up to the job of removing a vintage freewheel that had not been removed for well over ten years.In particular the PT tool has large hex surfaces that enable you to get a good grip in the jaws of spanner or a vice. Brilliant.

Heavy and though which will stay usable for years to come. Used my QR screwers through the cassette and tool to hold it in place while I turned the tool with a adjustable spanner.

I had an old freewheel that needed removing and this was the only piece of equipment that would make it budge. Simple and solid. If you need it, you need it.

Tried a cheaper tool which had a big hole through the centre making ITT diifiucult to fix to freewheel with QR skewer, and the pins bent before the freewheel on an old 70s bike moved.This one fixed in plasce with the QR skewer really well and stood up to some serious hammering to loosen the freewheel. Which eventually loosened. Great quality!

Build quality is great and worth every penny, previously bought cheaper make only for it to fail, will stick with park from now on.

The tool is fine but the cassette had "welded" itself to the ancient steel wheel hub. The cassette splines disintegrated. Hey-ho. Wheel and cassette to the scrap heap!I hope to have more luck on the next (newer) re-build project.
