Chef'n 102-812-017 Cob Corn Stripper

Fairly easy to clean and easy to use. I purchased this in 2018, and 2025 and it still works great!

Fresh corn on the cob is great. It is certainly much greater than the corn that comes in a can. But if you have to eat if off the cob that gets tedious. But how to get the corn off the cob? The standard suggestion is scraping it off with a knife. That is dangerous for fingers and does not do the job very well. This device does it. You twist the cob through the device and it produces a cornless cob and you have all of that good corn available. It works. It works easily. It is very nice to find a device that works -- especially if it works easily.

Much faster than using a knife. Would have gave it a five but when it’s gets the corn juice on it , it gets slippery and hard to hold. It’s needs a handle of some sort.

Best product ever

So, I really wanted to like this. It was easy to use and clean and didn't take up much storage space. But in reality I wasn't thrilled with it. Corn cobs come in different sizes, this doesn't. So on the more narrow cobs you are wasting too much of the kernel and on wider cobs you are digging into the cob. I ended up using a knife to cut the kernels off and will look for a different style.

Corn consumption is increased by this. I find corn on the cob unpleasant due to kernels becoming lodged between my teeth.

Dangerous tool. I returned mine because no matter what size corn it didn’t fit. And when I tried to push harder I ended up getting my thumb cut and bleeding good.

So let's start by saying that this gadget seriously did some damage. It's survived 80+ ears of corn which yielded about 28 cups. It was relatively easy to use however had its flaws. For the most part, it removed the kernels flawlessly. There wasn't much waste left behind in the mid section to the end. However, it at times missed quite a bit at the narrowest part of the cob. We went back through and focused the edge on each side and cleaned it up. The other challenge was removing the gadget from the thickest end without practically throwing corn. It took some practice but you were able to control it a bit more by slowly rotating the cob and striper in opposite directions until it basically twisted off. Overall, well worth the money! I couldn't imagine stripping the kernels by knife. It held up great, will be used again and is definitely something I'd buy again!*9/15/2024- This gadget lasted yet another season. This time shredding 138 cups of corn and still going strong!
