Realistically, how long does a two player game will take? Thanks

Great question. On average, I would say a two-player game (which is all I have played so far), takes 1 hour. Set up takes a while in addition to that (15 minutes) unless you end up sorting out everything and keeping it sorted in smaller containers besides what they give you. It really depends on how long you take to make decisions--I imagine the 30 minutes they say is if you just go back and forth immediately with your turns.

Could this be played on a 36x42 inch table?

This get takes up a lot of table space. You might be able to make it work on that table with two players but it would be tight. I think you would have a hard time fitting everything and 4 players on 3ft by 4ft. If you have a small side table that might help.
