YES. I have a Scottish Terrior and use it to remove the soft undercoat. It does a good job. Should work well for a saluki.

Q: What Mars Coat King do you recommend for an Exotic Shorthair Cat or Persian Cat?

I really liked the Mars Coat King at the beginning but it removed to much hair off of my chocolate lab. It removed almost all of her chocolate from her lower back. It didn't take all of her hair, she is tan on her lower back. I really think it would be good though if you only brush them twice a week. I overused it completely because I used to comb her daily. It was my fault. I should have stopped when I first noticed her changing color.
