Definitely a step up from a manual sander.
It's heavy. It worked great and so convenient with the vacuum attachment. I found that I did not need to order the sandpaper with the holes in it like the manual sander but I used them anyway as I had them in stock . The vacuum attachment needed a piece to make it fit on my shop vac. It arrived pretty fast so that was a plus, as I was not looking forward to the cleanup with the manual sander.

Amazing
This tool made short work of some uneven ceiling repair work I had to do. What would have taken an hours worth of sanding, dusting, feeling out to ensure it’s feathered took all of 5 minutes. Had it hooked up to the shop vac and there was very little dust. Battery usage was not an issue for me since it was not a whole room. I’m As I go thru remodeling the rest of the house I already see the hours this will save me in work and clean up. Light weight and easy to use. Highly recommend for remodelers and for handy men doing repair work where there’s uneven taper in the board from previous botched repair work.

Might be the best tool I've ever bought
Most people would agree - drywall sanding is the worst part of home renovation. Time-consuming and terribly dusty. I took a leap buying this, but it is worth every penny. Better/smoother finish than other methods, probably cuts down on time by 5-10x, and dramatically cuts down on dust. Because it is so effective, I recommend getting a centrifugal separator (~$60; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CN7DC7N9?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) to attach in-line with your shop-vac to avoid caking the filter. That was the weak link. I built a small platform with casters, such that everything moves as one - it is otherwise somewhat cumbersome.

Waited too long to buy it.
Considered one for years, shouldn't have questioned it for more than a day. Hand sanded 3500 sqft over a few years, got a deal on one of these and said screw it let's see how it does, in 1 day I sanded 2800 SQft in a few hours. Used the DeWalt 150 grit and another cheaper brands 150 grit, both hook and loop mesh. Spent the money to upgrade the disc (for the extra 30$ they should just make it a price increase and have included it) to the one with lots of holes and a hard backing, it improved dust collection tremendously and it honestly wasn't bad with the soft padded disc in the first place. It is heavy (and I am an ox) and doesn't reduce it's weight with it's suction. It's not balanced enough to be fully comfortable but it is very doable for those willing to work with not against it. With a standard shop vac and the speed set low 1-3 range it leveled surfaces quickly. 5ah batteries lasted about 20-25 minutes (enough to do a 12x15 room, walls and ceilings). Don't have one of the newer variable speed vacuums that is Bluetooth or remote to so I won't comment on how much those improve the product.

Should have purchased sooner
I'm renovating my home and doing a lot of drywall install and repair. I should have purchased this a year ago and saved myself a ton of work. I an adapter for the shop vac so it can hook up directly and suck most of the drywall dust from the sanding. Does a good job. I couldn't justify spending $$$ on Festool so this was a good in-between. Previously I bought a cheap, Chinese knockoff that was heavy and shocked me every time I used it. After returning it I decided to go up one level with this Dewalt cordless. It's lighter and easier to manage. I just wished it had an LED light built into the head so I can see ridges and imperfections easier when working overhead.

Happy with purchase
Surprisingly easy to use. Would recommend 340 grit for final sanding. 220 tended to leave a few swirl marks. Battery life is adequate. Definitely a time saver.
