Even if you're not a hardcore gamer this book is a terrific look back at the history of game consoles for anybody interested in consumer electronics. It includes all the heavy hitters that you've likely heard of, as well as a bunch of the more obscure systems that contributed to the overall history of home gaming. There are beautiful photos of the consoles on every page, so this makes a great book to simply flip through. If you've ever been interested in game consoles, consumer electronics, product design, etc. then this book is for you!

I was pleasantly surprised with the thoroughness and high quality of this book in covering the entire history of console games, including some computers, with absolutely beautiful photography. I purchased the book for my grandson who is a console game enthusiast supreme. He was delighted.

My son has a special interest in vintage video games and greatly enjoyed reading this book. He shared countless pieces of information and even learned new things. With having special interests it can be common for books to have redundant information as they all fall within similar niches but this book was through and unique. Unique and fun gift for my teen son who loves all the things in the old video game category!

I was excited to get this since I really liked the first book but this second edition seems very inconsistent. Like why is the Oculus Quest being featured but the PlayStation VR and Other VR headsets are left out? And what does iOS and Android have to do with console gaming? Also what happened to the teardown pictures of the current gen consoles, like this just seems like an unnecessary revision and not worth you’re money if you already own the original.
