Worth it.
Should've started with this product first. My dog is 150 lb and recently stopped jumping up into my Jeep. So I bought the Twist step that plugs into the hitch. We didn't even start training with that because when it swings under the Jeep it has to be so low to clear the gas tank it was in danger of scraping. Then I bought a plain hitch platform. Too small. Then, on a coworkers advice, a ramp. It was pretty steep once placed in position on the Jeep, and it freaked my dog out that it flexed under his weight. He walked up once and didn't want to use it even to get down. Finally, I bit the bullet and bought these steps. Oddly, the pros and the cons for me are the same. They are made of heavy duty plastic, so they are very sturdy, but that makes them a bit heavy. The step platforms are large, also improving safety and confidence for your best pal, but it means taking up a lot of space in my little vehicle when folded and stowed. For me, I have the steps on the seat or floor on the passenger side in front. So no passenger. I could make my dog deal with them in the back for a short trip if I really needed/wanted a front passenger, but it's a little tight. Anyone with a full or mid size SUV will be OK. Another pro (no con here!) - no training required. Set these down, unfold them, and your dog knows exactly exactly what to do. So overall, I have to give 5 stars because really there is nothing I would change, except maybe next time I might think about 4 door Wrangler! ;-)

Buy once and never have to replace, last forever.
Excellent, extremely well-built product, the only con is the weight. It's very heavy, I have the 5 Step for a 34" high tailgate and my 120 lb 9 mo. puppy walks right up with ease.It does take two hands to lift and set up the steps. They are a little stiff to open, hoping that'll loosen up with use.I resisted paying so much and have purchased several other cheaper, more lightweight aluminum steps that after a month's use became warped and unstable. I have returned all these after my pup became wary of the shake and wobble.Pet Loader steps are well thought out, pay attention to the height of your tailgate and order accordingly...the proper amount of steps (3-4-5 or 6) will reduce the pitch in a manner most comfortable for your pet.

Works for our 203lb Great Dane after TPLO Surgery
This is saving us! We first got the twist step and our big boy didn't like it at all. He felt unsteady even though it only moved a tiny bit and it was a big step up to get on one step and then a big step up again to get into the back of our Yukon. If he could get a little bit of a running start it might work for him, but after TPLO they are not allowed to run or jump up in anyway. It was not the best fit for him so we worked with Amazon, who as you know their customer service is pretty darn awesome! They returned the twist step (loved the concept, just not for us) and we got these stairs instead. I thought we'd have to train with treats to work with getting him up and down. We set them out and he didn't even hesitate to go up them and right into the back of the SUV and on his bed. Zero hesitation. The first day he used them, we used them for a trip to the vet, so in at our house, out at the vet to potty, back in to wait for the vet to come to the car, back out, in...back out at our house and each time not a hint of unsteadiness or hesitation from our big pup. We LOVE these steps! I hope they hold up over the next few years. Saving our backs from slinging him to lifting him in the SUV right and he is no longer allowed to run and jump up into the back of the SUV going forward even after a full heal in regards to keeping his non surgical leg working well. They are made well, easy to use and fold up nicely to go into the back. They are a little heavy as we got the 4 step version, but not as heavy as he is so well worth it!

Worth The Cost
My Great Dane pups needed some help getting into/out of my Jeep Grand Cherokee, and my back needed help because these "pups" weigh 100 pounds each, and counting. The Pet Loader XL stairs are extremely steady, very easy to open, and simple to use. The carrying handle is a great feature. The stairs aren't light as a feather, but a person of average strength should be able to maneuver them. The one change I would make is to maybe make them a few inches wider. One of my Danes has a tendency to step right on the edge, which makes me a little uneasy, but she stayed on. A little more width would take care of that. I know the stairs fold for transport, but I'll be honest and admit that I only use them in the garage. I find that all pet stairs have the same problem--you need ample clearance behind your vehicle to set them up, and who is going to hold onto your dogs while you put them away? My vet is kind enough to send an assistant out to give me a hand, so I can leave the stairs at home. So, five stars for sturdiness and ease of use, and four for value, since I find their use to be limited in urban parking lots where setup space isn't at a premium.
