Effective and Not Expensive, But Make Sure It Will Fit Your Drill
Effective and economical degasser (I paid $20). Long enough (about two feet) for standard carboys/buckets. Seems to effectively degas six gallons of wine in about two or three minutes using a drill at medium speed and changing spinning direction every 30 seconds. Easy to clean/sanitize and so far feels fairly durable, especially for the price. As a side note, I use the glass carboys, so I sort of cover the opening of the carboy when extracting the degasser to prevent splatter. My only issue was the rod was too thick for one of my cordless drill's chuck, so make sure it will fit your drill before purchasing. If you have a quick change chuck drill, you can buy a keyless drill chuck adapter, but again make sure the adapter will fit at least a 10mm or 3/8 inch bit to be able to hold this degasser.

Works as promised and is far easier to keep clean ...
Works as promised and is far easier to keep clean than the bottle brush that I had used for the same purpose. In my use, I've noticed that you want to hold it up off the bottom of the carboy or it will begin to bend in very odd ways. It will also begin to bend if you run the drill at very high speeds. It takes two hands to insert into the neck of a carboy (one to hold the drill and one to squeeze the green filaments together a bit). Finally, the shaft is not strong enough to support the weight of the drill as it sticks out the top of a carboy. That means you can leave it there without holding it while you wait for the bubbles to go down before another spin. With regards to the bottle brush mentioned above: before I came along this, I had cut the loop off the end of a new bottle brush. Then you can chuck the wire stem in a drill and use it the same as this tool. It may even work more quickly, but the big draw back is that it's far more difficult to clean and sanitize than this tool. I have no plans to go back to my old method and until I can afford a vacuum setup, will stick with this handy tool.

Works exactly as intended
There's really not too much to this. Simply made, works exactly like it's supposed to, easy to use, seems pretty durable and the price is great in case it breaks. All around a great degasser! For cleanup, which was the most fun part, I just dipped it in the sink of starsan and water and spun the drill. Easy peasy!

Works well but with a potential design flaw
Bought this to de-gas my home-brew wine. This is a very simply design: essentially a plastic rod with weed trimmer cord woven through holes in the rod with the loose ends shrink wrapped in plastic. Unfortunately, the shrink wrapped end came loose after first use. The cord ends are not well secured under the shrink wrapping. I initiated a return but instead decided to to try and modify the unit. I drilled two holes in end of the rod, fed the loose ends of the cord through the holes and burned the ends of the cord so they couldn't pull through the holes. This has proved to be a much better design (also allows you to easily replace the cord in you have to in the future. My modified design now works great.

Degass Aerate Oxygenate Delux!
I've used the degasser for over a year and its an excellent product. The name is confusing because it also aerates or oxygenates both beer, mead, and wine. Yes, I brew all three drinks and this "whip" does both aerator and degass very well. I simply spray or dip it in your sanitized solution and you're all set. I usually "whip/stir" for about 3-5 minutes, that works for me; the more powerful your drill the less time you'll spend using it. You'll notice fermentation begins faster and results are very consistent. It's easy to wash or rinse and stores easily. Say good-bye to yeasty drinks (degass) and expense oxygen tanks (aerating systems) and say hello to the very affordable Clean Bottle Express Wine/Beer DeGasser!

How to use this degasser in a one-gallon jug -- use a funnel. Also, size measurements and info on adjusting the twine.
I've just gotten into fruit wine making and have only used this in one-gallon glass jugs. It fits, but with little room to spare. I'm not sure how that affects the degassing since it can really whip the wine around if I want it to. To keep from spilling any wine, I just slide a funnel over the plastic before attaching the drill. As long as I hold the funnel down on the glass, it works excellently to keep the wine from spilling. See pics. I may have gotten the funnel idea from another reviewer. I can't recall at this point, but I don't mean to take credit for the idea if I didn't come up with it. The degasser is exactly 24 inches long, and the part that goes in the drill is about 5/16 or 11/32 in diameter. The plastic twine is 6.5 inches from top to bottom and about 5 inches in diameter side-to-side. You can actually slide the plastic through the three holes in the main tube for adjustment or cleaning. You can't shove it down into the tube to shorten it, though.

It does what it's supposed to - it worked for ...
It does what it's supposed to - it worked for us twice so far, but even after the first use we could see visible wear. You get what you pay for, but it still works. Seeing as we don't make wine too often, it works for us.

huge time and clean up saving unit
I am a novice wine maker only about a year in...this unit really saves time from the transferring from carboy to pail back to carboy to pail back to carboy. Once in secondary fermentation, it stays right in the carboy and this unit allows you to not have any additional clean up and is VERY easy to use and works EXTREMELY WELL to degas the wine. I have been taught old school to start, but this by far is much better to upgrade and use this method for quick, easy degassing. Some shortcuts are worth taking...this is one.

Spin your bubbles away quickly and easily with this. Be careful not to spin too fast near the surface! UPDATE: lasted 20 months, and both ends broke out of the tip. Still works, but the weed whipper cord is not so tough after all.

Product was good but unfortubately there were an additional £14 to pay for custom which were not advertised on Amazom pushing the price to high for a plastic stick.

Im a little worried about the plastic stem and its durability. But i didnt like leaving my old wand, with its stainless stem, in the wine for longer periods.

It works really well to degas, however, when using a drill it's best used at low speeds in order to avoid overflow when degassing.

This thing cuts down the degassing time by a lot. I don't know how I degassed my wines without it. The only thing is that the wand is starting to warp a bit.
