My new favorite whole bean coffee for flavor, value and freshness!
Fog Chaser was a gift 💝-I have been drinking San Franciso Dark Roast but the last bag was more acidic than usual, so I wanted to try something else. This Fog Chaser whole bean is fantastic! It’s very rich, smooth and velvety, but plenty strong without being bitter or burnt . The beans are oily as they should be and the coffee tastes very fresh. This is what I will be drinking from now on! I sent a gift bag to someone who also drinks French Roast (from a popular coffee house chain store), and she was also impressed and says she is switching to this coffee. I like their fair trade practices and the 2 pound bag is such a great value!

Hands down the best decaf espresso out there
I’ve tried them all—ground and whole bean—and nothing compares to San Francisco Bay’s Decaf Espresso. It’s the only one that actually comes close to the taste and body of regular espresso. No sour notes, not too light—just smooth, rich, and satisfying.I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it. Plus, every bag I’ve received has been fresh and full of aroma. This is a staple in my kitchen and a lifesaver for anyone who loves espresso without the caffeine.

Good value - on the smoky side
The coffee is a true dark roast. I prepared it using the pour-over paper filter method. It cost me roughly 20 bucks, and I find it almost indistinguishable from the Costco Green and White Kirkland House Blend bag. The difference is that Costco’s offering costs about 17 bucks here and gives you an extra half pound compared to this coffee.Twenty dollars is still a good value compared to Starbucks, but for this price, I’d prefer the Lavazza Super Crema. This coffee doesn’t list a roast date—which would be very helpful (what are they hiding?)—but it does have a "best by" date in 2026. Coffee is fresh for one or two months after roasting, then starts to degrade, so that date seems like wishful thinking. To be fair, Costco also doesn’t include a roast date. They also don’t disclose where their beans are sourced from. I’ve had a few bags of Costco coffee that wouldn’t bloom when water was added. This indicates the coffee is very old and the CO₂ has dissipated. This coffee, however, bloomed quite a bit, leading me to believe it’s fresher.Overall, it’s not bad—a little on the smoky side, but not too much. I have yet to try it in the espresso maker. I may update this once I do.

Good Coffee, Great Value
I've been purchasing a whole bean, dark roast from Kroger for the last 9 years, every once in a while switching to something different but always coming back to my main pick. Kroger however, has been negligent in stocking whole bean coffee, at a decent price in their stores consistently. I look for a nice oily bean, a good fresh coffee aroma and strong flavor. I've tried Kroger's own Premium, Private Selection brand, and got old stale coffee with lots of broken beans. I also did Sam's Club Makers Mark coffee with the same complaint, not oily, didn't taste or smell fresh. So I tried San Francisco Bay Coffee, whole bean, French Roast. It is Really good coffee. Maybe not the best I've ever had, (I've had some Costa Rican coffee while visiting Costa Rica that was to die for) but right up there, and the price is great giving it good value for the money. FYI: I use a French Press and store the coffee beans in a lidded glass jar.

Consistent and quite affordable whole bean coffee that is great in a cold-brew process.
This brand has never let me down, although I prefer dark roast so I only purchase ‘French and Italian roast. Each of these choices also make very tasty and full bodied cold brew (which is all I drink now). I compare them to a close profile to the Hawaiian brands I normally buy here on the islands (Kona coffee).

Best Decaf
This is the decaf coffee I've been searching for. It's a rich, deep, dark roast that tastes like regular coffee. I use it for espresso, but it would be great brewed in a French press or drip machine.

Not as fresh as same product from grocery store
***update*** I decided to remove another star after drinking this for a week. It's really really stale compared to the same coffee from the grocery store.***This is my favorite coffee when it's fresh. When I buy it at the store the beans are usually glossy and the coffee is delicious. Unfortunately, I have bought this several times from Amazon now, and each time the beans are flat and not as good as the same coffee from the grocery store.

Best whole bean coffee!
This is absolutely my favorite whole bean coffee! It is a huge bag and it lasts me a while so, I find it to be a great value! It smells amazing when I open the bag and it delivers a rich wonderful cup of coffee that is never bitter.
