Rain Barrel Gray 50gl

The barrel has a much nicer appearance than most, and the diverter kit appears to work as described. However at times it is not raining, water can get stuck in the line (since it is hardly pitched) and it needs to be lifted to get it into the barrel. Otherwise, the diverter works pretty well and has an effective overflow feature.However, we have had other issues with the rain barrel that should be noted. First off, the lid simply does not fit on the barrel. No matter how we try to squeeze it in, bend and bow the barrel, it will not secure to the top. We have been using the planter feature having it sit upside down on the top due to this issue, but it is not ideal. I am still awaiting resolution from customer service on this (will update when we do).Also, the barrel comes with rubber fittings that secure into the drilled holes for the spigots. These were relatively easy to install and appear to work well at first glance, however after some use it was clear that they move around a bit if the hose pulls slightly in any direction. We even had the bottom one pull out entirely (likely a combination of water pressure and a tug), which poured more than half of the rain water on the lawn before I could get the plug back in.The spigot that comes with it is plastic and is very low quality. Because of these issues I have purchased 2 brass spigots that secure to the barrel from the inside with a nut. This has appears to work much better than what was provided in the kit.Overall we are a bit disappointed with the rain barrel and hope it stands the test of time. We have only had it installed for a week and a half....****Update*****It has been a month since my first correspondence with the seller on the the lid not fitting properly. Although they appear to be responsive, no action has been taken. It is not clear to me if the barrel is slightly too big or the lid is slightly too small. But I have been trying to work the lid on for 4 weeks without any success. A very frustrating purchase...Update 5/18/2019Customer service only responds with generic answers like "a representative will be reaching out shortly" and "the warehouse is preparing your shipment". However, I am getting nowhere with fixing the issue. A very dissatisfying purchase and experience.

I have two of these. One purchased about 7 years ago, the other in 2021. On both I have replaced the drain plug with a brass spigot and tossed the plastic one (why it gets 4 stars and not 5). Both are working well and fill nicely after a good rain storm or two, if your gutters are clean. I put cage type spout guards on those feeding the barrels to avoid blockage at the diverter.

So far product is great. Arrived quickly and was easy to assemble. The helpful hints were great and helped in the quick assembly. Now waiting for it to rain to see how it fills up. Hardest part was building the retaining wall to set it on.

It's so cheaply made that the lid it came with won't even fit it right,the spigots it came with broke the very first time I tried to put it together. I tried to return the dang thing and they wanted and I kid you not when I say this...over $300.00 via UPS to ship it back to the company!!!Definitely not worth what I paid for it.

We added a spigot to the bottom for a garden hose. We fill our water cans from the top spigot. Love the planter top. 1/2 inch of rain the day after installation filled it up, and the combination fill/diverter hose worked perfectly. (That's a 2 x 3 downspout in the picture.)

Not much you can say about a plastic barrel.

I haven't put it together yet, but looks great and will work perfect to catch the rain.
