Nearer: New Collection of Favorites Hymns What a beautiful and inspiring production! I had heard on LDS Radio Finn Willamette's version of "God Be with You Till We Meet Again" and I desperately sought out where to purchase a copy of it; even if it was on an album filled with not-as-enjoyable songs, I wanted it. I read reviews on Amazon about this album and I took a chance. To my surprise, ALL songs were very enjoyable!I taught seminary for a couple of years (early morning in California) and this album became my mood setter as I drove into the church parking lot. Yes, the versions are quite contemporary, but reverent nonetheless. Eventually, I played it during moments of calm activity in the classroom which helped to maintain the Spirit in the room. A number of students even asked to borrow the album!No matter your faith, this collection of traditional hymns from present-day artists will only encourage peace in your home, car, or where ever it is played. I am always looking for uplifting enjoyable music and this did not disappoint. I love the folksy sound to hymns that I already love. I feel like the artists versions respected the sacredness of the hymns while giving it a modern interpretation. I sometimes catch my kids singing the hymns while playing in their rooms because we play it so much. I highly recommend this album.

This cd stirred even more an ever present peace that dwells within me- bringing it nearer to the surface of my body.Some of the songs compel you to sit quietly and listen, others make you want to sing aloud. I would recommend this cd to those I know and love that love their hymns.

I was looking for some music that was still spiritual and reverent, but not quite so traditional as what I'd been listening too. This is such a beautiful collection, I've started loving some of the hymns I didn't like before b/c of the new compilations. GREAT buy!!
