Perfect For A Sunnyside Up Morning
I was very priveleged to witness my young 7 month old nephew quietly captivated by the Chica Show on the Sunny Side Up programming on the Sprout channel. It took me back to when I was 3 or four and loved the Sesame Street show on the PBS channel. One morning on Christmas Day of 1978 or 1979, I awoke to find that my sister and I had each a stuffed Sesame Street character awaiting us under the Christmas tree. My nephews first birthday is this August 24th of 2015 and I am excited to present a squeaking Chica plush to him.The sound isn't exactly like Chicka's on the show, but that's okay. The voice generated on the show is a person speaking into either a kazoo or a duck caller. I can't tell which. My nephew will love it nonetheless, my mother showed him a phone video I sent of me squeezing it and he went koo-koo for it.

Chica
I would normally never pay this much for a stuffed animal, but since my son gets such a huge kick out of Chica I just couldn't resist. I am happy to report that I harbor no regrets towards this purchase. Here is my review:Appearance:It honestly looks more like Chica than I thought it was going to. It's not a 100% spitting image, but my son immediately knew who it was. As soon as my son saw it, his eyes lit up and he lunged towards the toy. That reaction alone was well worth the price. The Squeaker:As much as we like this toy, I have to agree with others and admit that the squeaker is a bit lame. I honestly feel that it could have been left out. The squeaker is like what you would find in a dog toy. My son still hasn't been able to get Chica to squeak himself, but he sure gets a kick out of it when mom or dad makes Chica squeak. If you'd like a more authentic sounding Chica squeak (and you have no shame and like playing with your kids), you can do what we did and go to a dollar store and purchase a kazoo. It's a fun way to interact and play with your little one - and if your child is old enough, they could make Chica talk themselves.Overall:If your child loves Chica, this is a surprisingly good purchase. The toy is super soft and cuddly and has quickly become a favorite - my son is always hugging it.

great toy, BUT....
as i started out, this is a great toy, BUT the entire shipping process is a nightmare! i bought this plush for my niece, this was the only thing my sister told me to buy for her (no pressure, of course!!!) and by the time she told me, only a day or so after the commercial, it was sold out at $14.99 and was available for much higher prices... but, this was for my niece, my only niece, and it was the only gift she wanted... so i opened my wallet and got out my credit card! it sold out, at the price i wanted, while i was in the checkout phase, and i had to recheck out, at a slightly higher pricepoint.. no problems... and then the problems started. first, it took days for the order to be filled (it sat with a 'waiting fulfillment' showing up each time i tried seeing what was happening... then when i called amazon, i was told that while it was in an amazon warehouse, it was the property of a private seller.. no problem, but then, it looked like after i had paid, and the money taken from my account, and all that, that i wouldn't get the silly thing!! the amazon customer service agent intervened, and i found that i had gotten the LAST doll sent out, at any pricepoint, in november... ahhh!!! sigh of relief! i achieved the impossible, and got the most popular kiddie toy for my niece!!! except then, fedex lost the shipment!!!! well, it got to pennsylvania, and then sat there..... for days, and days and days! calling fedex accomplished nothing, calling amazon, who called fedex got the response "we don't know where the package is, send out another to your customer!"... not possible, since i had scored the last doll.... so, amazon refunded my money... and two days later, chica winds up at my sister's mailbox! so, i repaid amazon for the doll, and am glad to find out that she loves the thing! yes, it has a dog squeaker... and yes, unless the child is brawny, they probably won't get to squeak chica... and there are no feathers on the neck (but since it's being marketed for babies, why would you want the feathers? they'll get nasty and ragged, and shed, or choke the kid (who put everything in their mouths!) my sister might wind up making a felt feather collar, at some point, or she might not... but my niece loves this thing!! she loves chica, and feels that her favorite character has come to camp out at her house! cool!!! most kids who are the age range for this toy won't notice the lack of feathers, or the difference in squeaker.... and the adults who do have forgotten the wonderment of children, and their imaginations! this doll was worth every penny i spent on it's price (which was considerably more than the $14.99 retail. i gave this a 4 star rating, instead of a 5 star, because of all the aggravation in order fulfillment and the shipping snafu... and, those things DO count when you're buying a product online.

Don't spend more than $14.95. Wait for Sprout/Amazon to offer more.
My 13 month old daughter LOVES Chicka! We saw that they had finally come out with a plush doll before the holiday's, but all the doll's had been bought up and were being sold through a different distributor for $35-$70. OUTRAGEOUS! The dolls are sold through Amazon by Sprout for an original price of $14.95. Do not pay anymore. As of the time I am writing this review, it looks like the same thing has happened again, as the doll is listed at around $35. Just be patient, they will produce more and you will save yourself some money. I "liked" Sprout on Facebook and got the update that way when they released more dolls. As for the doll...it doesn't look "exactly" like Chicka, but Chicka is a puppet and this is a smaller version of the puppet as a plush doll. It looks good enough and my daughter LOVES it. It doesn't squeak exactly like Chicka either, but that's why its worth the original price of $14.95 and not $35+My daughter loves this doll and we are pleased with our purchase.
