Digital Aircraft Audio Recording Cable

Grabbed this cable while black Friday sales were still around. Intended purpose was to tap into the intercom of the plane and record the actual audio from the conversations in the cockpit. Quality is better than cheaper wires I used in the past. The function is excellent and sound quality is perfect for my needs. For iPhone, I record video using the MoviePro app which allows to use AirPods as mic or it detects the mic automatically when wired with aux using this cable. You will need one more adapter for Aux to lightning to USB C depending on your device.

Updated: USER ERROR. I actually bought 2 cords and the first did not work. This was the second and it did work until it didn't during what was an important flight and I was frustrated. I tried to figure why looked back at several other videos all no audio and you can imagine my frustration and bad review....UPDATE I emailed the company and right away on a Saturday night they responded and kept in contact with me. I ended up looking at all the wiring again and it was USER error. I was wired correctly until somehow someone swapped the inputs so the cord looped on it self instead of into the headset. I will leave that as it is. That said I fixed that and tried again and my audio was back to perfect using a DJI mic 2 and Insta 360 X5. Highly recommended if you want good audio.

Once I ordered the right item, it worked great. It allows me to record aviation headset audio to my iPhone. I initially ordered the wrong one, for digital audio, turns out that was for high-end digital cameras, useless for iPhones. Factory tech support in Alaska identified the problem, and gave good advice. I’m very pleased with this cable.

Can’t recommend this thing highly enough. It’s very straightforward to use and works exactly as expected. I use it by plugging it into the headphone jack of the backseat, then feeding the other end into the Osmo converter. You do need a converter if you don’t have one. The cables all look identical, so you have to read the ad to make sure that it works specifically with your camera… Their website is incredibly helpful and responsive.

I bought this to use for my flight training so I can review my lessons. Works great with my Insta360 and experienced no issues at all! The price seems steep for what it is but it was worth it in my opinion.

This was exactly what I needed to record audio on my flights. Works effortlessly, connect in-line with your headset cord and it works. Audio is good with no issues. I used this setup on the video below.
