My Canon MX860 is used primarily to print photos. It prints seriously beautiful, vibrant photos. It uses 5 cartridges, a large black pigment, a small black ink, a magenta, a yellow and a blue. I purchased a 9 pack, 3 of each color to balance the usage from other multi packs. I tested the colors of the Canon ink by printing a nozzle check and then by printing a photo, then I did the same after replacing the Canon ink with these 3 color cartridges. The blue dripped slightly upon opening, I wiped it off, but it didn’t leak into the printer. The other 2 did not drip or leak. The nozzle check revealed that the blue is a somewhat, ever so slightly lighter shade than the Canon ink. More blue than cornflower blue. The red and yellow were the same. The test photo showed a non significant difference in the blue tones as compared to the Canon ink test photo. These cartridges are so inexpensive, I really can’t complain. Unless you really want to nit pick, nobody would really be able to tell the difference. Unlike some other good replacement cartridges I’ve tried, these do have the red indicator light when you install them. I had no issues with the printer not recognizing the cartridges.

I have had my MX860 printer for several years now and have installed many, many printer cartridges. I gave up on the idea of refilling the empty ones because a. Costco only put in half the ink of the original cartridge and b. the holes made to perform the refill seemed to speed up the drying/spilling of the ink. So, now I am trying off brands. Kingjet's cartridges are the best ones I've found so far. They aren't the cheapest, I'm sure you've noticed if you're reading this review, but you get a poor quality print and you have to clean the carriage assembly more frequently with a cheaper cartridge if it works at all.I also have been trying to extend the life of my color cartridges by removing them after use and replacing them with empties so they aren't used up in the cleaning process every time I turn on the machine to scan an image or make a photocopy. I've capped them and placed a piece of tape across the vent, placed them in a ziplock and stored them in the fridge. My next test will be how well they work when I return them to the printer to do a batch of color prints. I'm fairly confident they'll be fine, though. Happily, I "may" have found the most affordable way to make quality colored copies from home.

Update 5/2021 - issues with most but especially Magenta. NONE not a one of the magenta just as mentioned by other reviewers works on the canon printer. i actually had one left from the previous order from back when they all worked as well as three from the last order and NONE worked. all got an error message that the ink tank not recognized.half of the ink tanks would not seat properly so the printer could not recognize them. no matter how many times i tried the bad ones would not insert and make full contact. as said half did, half didn't.thankfully when changing my ink this last time i did not toss out the old 220 cartridge. if you have even one totally empty or 'not filled' slot, the printer will not function. the only fix is to put the old nearly empty one back in until the other ink arrived.i have never had a problem with cartridges for my printer in all the years i've had it, until this batch. i gave it two stars because some did work. the worst of the batch were the blk220 and magentas.i won't order this brand again and cannot recommend it.
