All the Single Ladies: A Novel Review: I love love love this book! - As a southern girl, I get all the phrases and use of language these girls use. They are so much fun I laughed out loud at how they talk to each other. Very entertaining read! Review: She's Back :) - I feel like she is back!!! I liked this book and enjoyed reading it. It took a little while to get in to the story but from the middle to the end I could not put it down. I love the references to all the local stores and restaurants as it takes me back to when I lived in Charleston. Easy summer read with a fun story. I think you will like this book too if you loved the books she wrote earlier in her career.

Loved this book! Lots of romance and joy!
Another winner by my new favorite author! The setting in the Lowcountry is so sweet and interesting. I have been to the mountains in N Carolina and now want to go to the Lowcountry!

Southern joy
A fun read! A bit over the top sometimes in the character "saint like qualities" of "the men" as they fit into their women's lives but the women characters were perfectly real and fabulous! Southern culture steeped in diplomatic manners and etiquette seemed an appropriate contrast to the ethical dilemmas brought up in the story about love, sustainability, marijuana , marriage, and more. Overall a delightful read that makes you sad the story ends.

Always love DBF and look forward to her novels coming out ...
Always love DBF and look forward to her novels coming out every June. This one was hard to put down, like all of her others, but it wasn't quite on par with her earlier (and IMO best) works like Plantation, Sullivan's Island, and Isle of Palms. Some of the characters were developed with a good bit of detail, but then little else was mentioned of them in the story leaving the reader to wonder why the author painted such a vivid and thorough picture of them. Regardless, it's a good summer read and it draws you in and makes you wish these gals were your friends.

An entertaining mystery!
Ms. Frank has given us s wonderfully magic story that incorporates s very unusual thief and a mystery surrounding her with unusual love stories that have st their heart a wise, ninety-seven -year-old woman and three middle-aged single women. Using a fabled thirty is even questionnaire, they meet three very nice men who buy into the mystery. You will enjoy the lovely descriptions of the South Carolina lows country as well. The book is very well-written with both romance and mystery. Oh, be sure to watch out for Pickle!

A great summer read. Well done, DBF.
I've read all of DBF's books and, in my opinion, this is one of the best. The story line held my interest throughout and the characters this time out were wonderfully developed. As is her habit, Ms. Frank includes the mention of a large number of commercial enterprises, ranging from Costco to Krispy Kreme. I'm not sure if she does this to make her characters more easily relatable to her readers, because of genuine loyalty to the companies' products, or if she actually receives compensation for what amounts to free advertising, but her practice of doing it is once again front and center from cover to cover. It doesn't bother me - in fact as a frequent visitor to the Charleston area, I appreciate the mentions of the local restaurants. After reading this book I'll be sure to visit places like the Obstinate Daughter and Tavern and Table on my next trip to the glorious Holy City. As is also her habit, she includes another ex-husband in the story. This time, though, he's not a complete jerk who gets bashed throughout the book, and actually becomes a semi-sympathetic character in the end. One of the most interesting characters in the book is the 99 year old Miss Trudie. DBF does such a fine job of developing this character that I think most readers will be very moved by Miss Trudie's fate in the book. I rank this one right alongside Dorothea Benton Frank's finest novels. Well done.

Summer is definitely here when Dorothea Benton Frank publishes a new novel. These ladies work hard and enjoy the good things that come to them. They just do with a great sense of humour.

Don't get me wrong: I LOVE Dorothea Benton Frank! I own almost all of her books and have a few favourites that I read and re-read regularly. "All the Single Ladies" however is NOT going to be one of those as it is completely lacking alround. It meanders along very predictably, doing no harm but enticing no passion or involvment with either the story or characters at all either. The 'Ladies' are all very bland and very stereotypical, and none of them draws me in or really arouses my interest. Miss Dorothea can create wonderful characters one cares deeply about, such as Grace, heroine of that name in my favourite "Full of Grace"; so I wonder what went wrong here... The story bumps along without much of a plot, apart from the rather stilted and constructed mystery of 'Wendy, The Thief' - and by golly is it repetitive in it's descriptions and subject matters! I think that might have been meant to create atmosphere, but it just doesn't and makes the whole story feel even more flat and long-winded. The whole thing feels like Miss Benton-Frank was obliged to churn out another novel for her publishers and had to meet a deadline. - So sorry to give this only one star, but it really isn't up to what this author is capable of at her best form. If you want to read something truely wonderful by her, choose "Full of Grace", "Shem Creek" or the brilliant, fresh and original "Folly Beach". These will not disappoint.
