the gods lie. [Ozaki, Kaori] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. the gods lie. Review: Let’s talk about it - So this manga book I ordered just yesterday after seeing a panel towards the end of the book of “princess” and the kid. I was intrigued because it seemed to be pretty good and had a nice story behind it due to the scene having a lack of context and seeming to have a huge impact. I truly loved the ending and it brought me to an awestruck feeling. I truly recommend this story to anyone who would like to have a simple but sweet realistic romance story. This is a truly sweet and amazing story although it being about an 11 year old kid. The ending leaves you somewhat satisfied but wanting another story to come (which unfortunately will most likely not come unless there’s already been one released which wouldn’t have much to go on about besides Rio and his relationship from here on which is furthermore hard to go on about). Review: genuinely sentimental one-off, excellent story and art - I stumbled across the pirated version online and love it, free translation and all. The joy of having it in print, with a better translation, quality printing, and the knowledge that the mangaka will actually make a few pennies off the purchase is absolutely worth the very reasonable price. As with all good manga, this one bears rereading. Ozaki's characters are so tremendously human, the faces, landscapes and motions so careful and genuine, I sure hope to read more by the author.

Beautiful story
Kamisama ga Uso wo Tsuku, or The Gods Lie, is a beautiful coming-of-age and romance short series that takes place during the summer vacation of two young students who learn more about their families, each other, and the harsh realities of modern life. The best part of this story is the characters, who you will love and empathize with throughout the heartwarming moments. The pacing is perfect and the art is is crisp and great to read through. And props to Vertical, this translation is well done and the print is perfect, which has been my experience with their other recent releases as well. ~ "Because it's the best they can do"

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
I loved this manga. I loved the characters. I loved the art. I loved the plot twists and there WAS some plots twists. Definitely recommend to anyone especially people who are into slice of life. I’m usually drawn towards shonen jump and action manga but this is truly a work of art.

Really good
~4 Stars This is a story about Natsuru, a boy, who forms a friendship with Rio, a quiet girl. He lives alone with his mom. She lives with her little brother, and takes in a cat that Natsuru finds. They form an odd friendship at first, and slowly grow closer. When Natsuru finds out some of the things that Rio has been through, has had to deal with in order to grow up and take care of her brother, he wants to help her, and take her away from it all. Life can be very unfair at times, and for some people in particular. Rio has been through some very bad things, and she did what she thought she had to, to move past it. When everything is revealed, it's a sad story. But Rio and Natsuru still had their close friendship, even when they were apart. Despite some of the awful things, this was a really sweet story. Bittersweet, maybe. And the ending is really nice. It leaves it a little open, I suppose, but I think it leaves it open for better things. I think they both were able to grow and be better despite, or because of, it all. I really liked this story, and I hope that Ozaki's other manga gets picked up at some point. (I'm still holding out hope for Immortal Rain.)

A must-read.
A single volume with a complete, riveting, heartbreaking, beautiful story. Gorgeous art too. I've only read through once at this point, but I haven't found a single imperfection. Belongs on your shelf right next to Lost at Sea.

Short meaningful story
This story was great, a good length to keep you interested and make a quick read but also is a great story with meaning behind it and characters, worth the money

A Very Well Done Coming of Age Manga
It's really, really good. The story is well paced and contained within this single volume, which is pretty rare for manga. The translation is perfect, and the production value is outstanding. This was the first manga I've read by Kaori Ozaki and I really liked her cartooning, clean lines with just the right amount of bounce to the character drawings and a nice balance between foreground and background. Her writing is good too, she doesn't push too hard in the emotional moments leaving the reader free to respond.
