Petzl Zigzag Plus Descender for Arborists D022BA00

I’m a new climber and I love the zigzag! Easy to use (for me that saying something as I only have 1 hand (ied in Iraq). It’s small, robust, extremely smooth and with the chicane does DRT and srt. It excels in DRT, which is my preference whenever possible. I’ve used it srt, but prefer to use an srt specific device if available. I run mine on 11.8mm adrenaline and it runs great! Not being mid line attachable isn’t as convenient but it’s dang near bomb proof! Trust my life to Petzl 100%

I’ve purchased a few of these things to keep on different rope setups. After a few years of using the Rope Runner Pro I went back to the Zig Zag and doubt I’ll ever switch devices again. These things are the smoothest devices on the market and the fact that there is a connection point to receive the return end of rope while using DRT (90% of my climbing) makes the device nearly tend itself while ascending. This feature alone sets it above the competition. While midline attachable devices are handy, I haven’t found that feature to outweigh the benefits I get from the Zig Zag. My Zig Zags stay on my ropes for the most part and just get stashed into my rope bag at the end of every flaking.

Regardless beginner, pro or intermediate climber this device is absolutely amazing. Smooth, sturdy, reliable and I put my life in the hands of the zig zag, Petzl rope and the friction saver I use. I fully recommend.

Make sure you thread the rope through correctly. Use good, certified climbing rope. Do not use the cheap Chinese rope for climbing. Your life depends on it. It may not have the proper qualities to use these devices safely. A Zigzag Plus along with a good rope is a great experience. I like to use bifrost; but many professional ropes Made in USA are suitable for use with this device. The EU also makes good ropes.

It’s so smooth. I’m new to climbing and cutting palms. I have 75 Palms and some ficus trees in my family property. I Used to pay 8-10k $ a year to maintain trees. Instead I learned to climb utilizing this zig zag plus along with a Petzl Flow Rope 11.6 mm Green 35 m. I’ve got about 1,300$ invested in equipment. Costing few hundred a palm or more to trim, I have already paid for the equipment by self trimming. Regardless beginner, pro or intermediate climber this device is absolutely amazing.
