Quick Dry Varnish, Clear Matt, 500 ml

Perfect! Searched everywhere for a varnish that would protect my painted cupboard but not alter the colour or the matte finish. This is fantastic. Easy to use. Dries completely clear and matte. Had a coffee ring stain but came straight off with a damp cloth so I'm confident it protects items well.

This varnish saved a project. I had used a solvent based varnish prior to this that took days to dry and collected so much hair and dust I needed to repaint. This varnish got the look I was after it creates a nice smooth finish without lines. I used a foam roller on the furniture to get a super smooth finish. What I say is if you want a completely Matt finish use a wax on your project. This does has the tiniest bit of sheen but will protect better. To clarify this is the closest to Matt I have seen with a varnish. (See image how light bounces on a dry surface)

I used this on the oak top of a cupboard I upcycled. It was easy to apply, not too thick, dried quickly and gave a nice smooth finish

The media could not be loaded.  In my images the shots with the sun on the bureau is before and the video and other shot is after.The finish before was ultra matt but now I would say it is a satin finish. At night it looks matt and during the day and in bright light it has a sheen to it.I don't mind the finish as this is going to be a high traffic piece so it needs the protection.The application was super easy and simple, I used a foam roller as I tested a synthetic brush on the back like the tin suggests and it left strokes. The foam roller application was super smooth.It dried in around 10 minutes, but it is a warm day and painted it outside.If you're looking for a matt finish this I don't think is the product for you, but in-between matt and satin, this is perfect.You don't need a lot of product, I used half a tin but that's because I did two full coats.I would use this again, but for a more matt look I will trying something else.

Well I had finally had enough of Danish Oil on my oak worktops - nasty sticky horrible stuff - so I tried this Ruskins quick dry matt. I had to first sand down the worktops with my electric sander, in order to get rid of the Danish oil, but that didn't take long at all. Anyway the varnish dried very quickly to a slight sheen - so not completely matt but I like the effect. Now when I run my hand over the worktop it is not tacky at all so I am a happy bunny. It seems to be very hard wearing as I have had it on the worktops for over a year now. Obviously you cannot take stuff straight out of the oven and put it on the worktop but apart from that it is very damage resistant.
