The type c to hdmi 2.1 works with the lg 42c2 on 4k 120hz 12 bit RGB wtihout any issues.
This is the second time that I buy a type c/display port to HDMI 2. The first one was ULT-WIIQ-US 6.6ft, DP 1.4a to HDMI 2.1. Unfortunately, this cable had audio issues, it stutters every 30 seconds and after 4 days it stopped working on 4k 120hz RGB. I researched a lot on these adapters and I found out that my RTX 2070 support type c video out display port alt mode, so I searched these adapters too. It seems that many of these adapters suffers from overheating, signal loss when switching in and out of HDR. Also, some of them require USB power. It seems the most of these adapters use the same chipset, but, it is the firmware that cause these issues. Then I saw that Cable Matters provide firmware update for some of the display port/type c to HDMI 2.1 that mention many bugs fixes related to issues that I mentioned. I decided to buy the short adapter and buy a hdmi 2.1 cable instead of the cable type, as the adapter is more expensive than the cable and it reduce the chance for it to stop working properly. The longer the cable is, there is a higher chance for failure. As soon I got it I download the latest firmware update from Cable Matters website and saw that the cable is on older firmware, so I update it . It takes very short time, and it works without issues. I can send HDR signal without losing signal, the audio does not have any issues and as I wrote in the title, it works on 4k 120 Hz 12 bit RGB. I will update the review if the adapter will fail.

Works with HDMI 2.1
Overall a good quality product. Successfully connected the HDR UHD LCD monitor of my upgraded Dell XPS 15 9510 running a film to my TV via one of my reverse-compatible Thunderbolt 4 USB-C type ports, this Cable Matters adapter, and a UGreen 48 Gbps 8K 2.1 HDMI 60 Hz Cable. Can confirm that 2.1 HDMI works very well at 60 Hz for 1920x1080p Full HD. No lags, good connectivity and image quality, and successful clear audio transmission. Currently using a NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 3050 Ti 4GB GDDR6 [45W] graphics card. This CableMatters device however, should definitely work for 10-bit 4K HDR UHD @120Hz but some people may be required to perform a manual setup, set up and apply an Nvidia settings custom resolution, or ensure that they have a GPU that supports 4k @120hz before this works. No drivers or external power supply required. For most, the computer will instantly recognise this device, there will be an immediate and unnoticeable installation, and simple plug and play. The cable does not seem to be able to achieve a top speed of 48Gbps but is nevertheless very fast, and from a viewpoint of practicality still does it's job very well. Quality of the male USB-C and female HDMI connectors is good and directly correlates to price paid. Quality of the aluminum protective materials is above average, and the cable although very short, on the cheap side, and slightly rigid, is both durable and user-friendly. So far no problems.

Works great with my setup
I have a Samsung 49" Odyssey Neo G9 Mini-LED Curved Gaming Monitor and it's on my desk along with my work laptop. This monitor supports multiple inputs and can display both simultaneously. So I have my PC connected to the DisplayPort connector, and I bought this adapter for my work setup. My work setup is a MacBook Pro with the M1 chip. I have that connected to a docking station, and I have this adapter connecting the docking station to the HDMI cable that is then connected to the G9 monitor. It works great. No flickering or other strange display issues. It works with the Mac as a separate dual-screen setup. Additionally, I have Parallels installed, and it is running Windows 11. I can use the multi-monitor setup from within that VM as well without any issues. This is a great little adapter and I would recommend it if you have a similar setup.

It works with LG CX 48"!
Overall the product works pretty well. I used it to hook up my thunderbolt3 equipped laptop to my tv and it delivers the promised 4k 120hz RGB 10Bit as promised. Very happy with the product, would buy again! However, there are some small hitches that I can't tell if they are a result of the adapter, hdmi cable, or just the overall setup. First, when switching Windows to HDR the connection between the tv and laptop is lost so reseating the adapter is necessary for it to continue working again. Sometimes have to reseat the cable if I disable the tv in windows and try to come back to it later. Lastly, the usb-c port on the adapter is a little jank. Most cables I've come across have a solid click when fully seated into the port that lets you know its in, this one doesn't have any sort of feel to it. While it doesn't seem to affect the connection, it doesn't necessarily inspire confidence either. EDIT: It just seems to not like changes to the display stats. Changing resolution, turning on hdr, disabling display in windows etc. These can cause the adapter to not be detected anymore. With reseating and getting the settings to stick, they are rock steady.

Works as advertised!
Works as advertised: supports 4k 144hz 10-bit signal! The cable is much more flexible than I expected too, which helps keep strain off of the USB C port!

Does not work, no instructions
I am running on a PC trying to add a third monitor with this device. I plugged it in and it does not work. No installation, no image of any kind on my monitor. I tried two different HDMI cables. It just does nothing but light a blue light on the device. There are no instructions in the box. Just a note to "Search on the model number". After finding the (unlabeled) model number, a search gave little. The only thing I could find was a way to upgrade the firmware. I tried to upgrade the firmware, but the updater said I have the latest version of the firmware. I basically have a pointless bit of plastic with a blue light. The online troubleshooter basically says to check your HDMI cable. Cable Matters should really think about some kind of instructions. Think twice before you roll the dice with this product.

I was quite mad discovering that it needs a firmware update, and then to my dismay unable to achieve the image I wanted. However, it turns out the cable was the issue!

I have the AMD RX6800 XT graphics card in my computer, it has one HDMI output, two DisplayPort and one USB-C. The HDMI was already taken by another monitor I use, so I ended up opting for USB-C -> HDMI to be able to share screen to my TV. Cheap adapters kept limiting my connection. One gave me only 24Hz, very "laggy" picture. Another would top out at 30. A third wouldn't even let me reach 4k. Then I decided to go for the recognized Cable Matters, and just out of the box I can turn up all settings without any issues. Thanks for a reliable device! Extra bonus star for the fact that firmware updates are available even after buying the product. That's was beyond expected. 6/5!

It has been quite a learning experience on how to get my MacBook running at 4k HDR 60hz and this adapter will do it for you. For me and perhaps for you too, you have to choose the full 4k resolution of either 2048x1080 (HiDPI) or 4096x2160 before you get a choice of 25, 50 or 60hz, otherwise, for me, all I get is 25hz for my very old Sony TV. Thus with my MacBook outputting at 4k 60hz HDR I had thought that I would get my netflix, disney and amazon all playing at 4k HDR, but unfortunately for me my whole chain of receiver to my old 4k HDR Sony tv is a full chain of 2.2 compliant devices so therefore all the streaming services still only plays 1080p. Yes you can get netflix, disney and amazon prime to play at 4k but you do need all your devices to be HDMI 2.2 compliant.
