Outshined my expectations
I really wasn't expecting much from this antenna, but I wanted to see for myself. I'm very happy with it. The radio reached a repeater over a dozen miles a way from inside the ground floor of a high rise building. Power was probably around 6-7 watts. I have also noticed reception is virtually identical to my other antennas, including a whip and the stock antenna. As for it coming apart for some people, I can only suggest always installing and removing it by using the gold base with the ridges. I can see how twisting it on or off by the antenna itself could cause separation, but as it is, the antenna seems well constructed and solid to me. 5 Stars.

Nice rugged little stubby antenna--Great when you're mostly just monitoring
Nice stubby little antenna for my little super-cheapo Chinese BaoFeng Model UV5RA+ handheld transceiver that I've programmed into a Marine and Weather radio. It seems to receive every bit as well as the stock one, which is just fine, because I chiefly use the BaoFeng for monitoring Marine Radio and NOAA Weather Radio channels in the cockpit of my sailboat, which has a more powerful main radio down in the cabin, and not so much for transmitting. While I am sure it'll get a message out to a marina or other boat in sight just fine, those needing the most transmission power they can manage from a little handheld AND still have a reasonably compact unit might do well to also get a Nagoya NA-771R 16-Inch Retractable/Telescopic Antenna (By the way, the retractable NA-771R is FAR less likely to be some fake lousy Nagoya counterfeit than an NA-771). It takes only seconds to swap antennas.

Surprisingly not terrible
I expected the absolute worst from this but while they are not consistent, two of them were resonant on the gmrs frequencies and one was resonant on 70cm. I did a range test with the two gmrs resonant ones and got about a mile before it dropped off which was better than I thought.

Works well.
This antenna work well. Easy to install. The connection is not water proof and you should remember that. The range for this small antenna is pretty good. Just be careful of hitting it on any thing. As the cap will pop off easily. Even with those thing having problems. It’s a good value. I would recommend it to someone that needs a small antenna.

Low quality
Good for the short distance

Great local use antenna and nearly indestructable.
It's essentially a radiating dummy load. If your expectations are reasonable, you'll love it. If you expect it to perform like a full-length antenna, you'll be disappointed. I spend the bulk of my time within two miles of the local repeater, so it's a great antenna for local use on my daily carry. When I go out of town, I switch to a longer antenna. That being said, I have been into the local UHF repeater with full quieting from a location 10 miles from the tower using 5 watts.Keep your expectations reasonable and you won't be sorry you added this to your antenna collection.

Don't waste your $
I saw a picture of s fellow ham radio operator with one of these on his Yaesu FT-817 and I decided to buy one for it and my Baofeng UV-5RE Plus. I had measured the SWR on the stock antenna and a replacement and both did not have good performance on 2m (SWR > 3 below 152 MHZ). Well, this one is worst. Way worst. SWR > 31 for everything. Only in 440 the SWR was measurable but still over 5. I still tested it and I could hear background noise was significantly higher than my other antennas while using my local repeater. When I transmitted, people could not understand me. I tested both antennas in case I had one that was defective. Both had the same lack luster performance

Diamond SRH805S for Baofeng - 5 Stars
I bought 2 of these for $6 each. I have one on my UV82HP and one on my UV5R. Both work great. I have a softer flexible stubby antenna on another UV82, but for some reason, I like these Diamond antennae better. Is rated up to 10W. My UV82HP puts out 8W. I noticed the difference one time on a call when I got too close to a vehicle on same frequency -- I got wicked feedback, and I was standing at least 15 feet away.
