It took me many attempts to find a reliable shampoo that could help control my dermatitis that didn't have harsh chemicals like selenium sulfide and zinc. This is the only shampoo that comes close to a "natural remedy" that I have been able to find that actually works on dermatitis/dandruff. I cannot emphasize on how much money I spent looking for a shampoo like this. I have extremely thick coarse hair and this shampoo is great for that type of hair. If you've been on the search as well and have finally found this shampoo, then congratulations. - This shampoo does have a slight medicinal smell to it which is 100% attributed to the charcoal. - There is no lingering odor after rinsing like there is with selenium sulfide or zinc dandruff shampoos. - The conditioner that pairs with this shampoo smells incredible and 100% natural I recommend it. - A single bottle lasts longer than many off the shelf shampoos I've purchased. - One bottle tends to last 2-3 months for a single user.

Works well, cleans scalp. Expensive!

This shampoo was bought for a relative with shoulder length curly, African American hair. She said: Dandruff I’ve had for years is completely gone after a few washes! I’ve used a lot of products that never helped. Only complaint is once I’ve started using it, a slightly weird smell develops near my scalp after a few days. It has reduced a lot though. So maybe it’s just build-up on my head gradually being worked on? I’m using apple cider vinegar and a Shea Moisture mask/conditioner as my conditioners. Not sure if that mix is the issue, but I rinse everything out. Nevertheless, I will continue using this shampoo since it works flawlessly for eradicating dandruff. 11/8/25: Editing to add that it’s been almost 4 years now and still using this. There are no more weird smells after using it, so it has definitely done its job cleaning my hair. No more dandruff! My hair is growing strong and healthy. Every now and then I use another cleansing shampoo, but I love this shampoo. I think the difference for why this works so well for dandruff compared to others is the combination of coal tar and the anti-fungal, Ketoconazole.

Literally the only shampoo that I can use on my dry, sensitive scalp. It definitely slowed shedding as well. I had tried almost everything on the market, and even used medicated shampoo from my dermatologist. Nothing worked before this!
