Kensington NanoSaver™ Combination Laptop Lock (Resettable), Computer Security Locking Cable (K60603WW)

When I bought my new laptop, I figured I would be able to re-use the Kensington lock from the old one. No such luck because the old lock was too large to fit into the new laptop's security slot. I don't know why they are different sizes. One theory is that Kensington wants to sell new locks. Another is that the new laptop is more compact, so the security slots are smaller to save space. Either way, this new lock works perfectly.

Product was third lock I tried (I did not realize there are three types of Kensingtons for laptop - who knew?). Apparently, if newer laptop and 'thin' then look for Nano in name. A nano lock is supposed to be backward compatible to a micro Kensington, but micro is not compatible with nano. Setup was easy and I do like the number wheels rather than worrying about keeping up with a key.

It's very difficult to find a cable lock for the HP Elite x2 1012 G2 laptop. The "G2" for second generation is an important distinction. None of the cable locks built for the "HP Elite x2 1012 G1" will fit in the G2. The G2 is a very narrow slot. It requires one of these "NANO" cable locks which are smaller and narrower than the typical lock. The cable itself looks normal and sturdy.

Overall, I'm a fan of Kensington products, but I find this one cumbersome to use. Conceptually, the pivot and rotate cable head should be a great idea, but in practice it just gets in the way. The only way I can engage the lock is to move my laptop until the side with the nano slot overhangs the desk and then remove the closest cable to provide more room. If you're lacking space around your device's lock, good luck.Also, the numerical wheels are very narrow, to the point it is extremely difficult to change one number without changing adjoining numbers. I tried using a stylus, but that didn't work. I'm still looking for an adequate solution.

The product was reasonably priced and of high quality. Worked as advertised. Would buy again if needed.

Bought a new HP Pavilion laptop a couple weeks ago. Had difficulty finding a lock to fit. The store where we bought it sold us the wrong lock and didn't carry one that fit. The laptop slot is smaller than the standard Kensington size. Did some online research and tried the Nano Saver. Thank you Amazon for stocking this! It fit perfectly, and the mechanism seems to lock and unlock easily without issue. Our daughter is using this as her locking cable in college.
