Q: Anything else needed to burn charcoal? Is it easy to light charcoal directly on it?

Charcoal lights easily because of the airflow coming through the bottom. Please note, be extremely careful if you are going to add lighter fluid. If you apply too much it will drip through the fire mesh and pool at the bottom of the heat shield. Please read and follow all directions on anything flammable.

Q: What is the heat shield made. Is there any plastic?

No plastic, the heat shield is made of aluminum-coated fire-resistant fiberglass.

Q: What size of mesh screen is the fire mesh? I know it's a fine aperture like 120 or 200. I just want a replacement mesh in case it burns up after ayear
