My experience has been that LED bulbs always generate far less heat than incandescent bulbs. But LED bulbs do give off some heat. A 60 watt equivalent LED bulb, which is rated as to 60 watts, can safely be used to replace a 60 watt incandescent bulb, even in a totally enclosed fixture. But before going to a higher rated LED bulb, in a totally enclosed fixture, it is prudent to consult a licensed electrician. They will know where the limits of safety lay and can easily install a new light fixture for you, if that is required. This will also "keep you up to code" when you someday have the property up for sale.

#461129 Soft White is 2700K and is the yellowish light you were used to seeing before LEDs were invented. #461137 Daylight is 5000K and is very white and intense. It is good for kitchens, but can be too bright for living rooms and bedrooms.
