Just the right touch
If you've ever admired fancy napkin designs on restaurant tables and wanted to do the same, this book is a great choice for several reasons. I bought three such books to compare and this is the one I kept. Nearly all the designs included in the others were in this book, as well as additional ones.I thought some designs were a bit ordinary and nothing I needed a book for and some were a little far-fetched, but most are just what I was looking for. One thing I particularly liked was that this book suggests what sort of napkin would work best for the design, e.g. printed paper, starched linen or whatever. Some designs even take two napkins which is usually overkill on most tables, but there are times when a first course may dirty fingers and you'd like to pick up those soiled napkins before the main course. A good example might be a fancy kids' party where multiple napkins are a good idea. Speaking of kids, the designs on my Christmas table were certainly a hit with them as well as the adults, and after dinner they set to trying other designs themselves. When I emailed a picture of my table decor to my sister her first comment was 'how did you fold those napkins?'. She often has themed dinner parties so a copy of this book is on the way for her birthday :).Regarding the instructions, while the written instructions weren't always as clear as I needed (I'm a hopeless failure at paper origami), the abundant pictures really helped so I was successful. The book is divided into sections showing seasonal ideas as well as others, with more complicated designs together toward the end. It has a good index to help you find a design again and there are ideas included with each design on how you might use it, which I found really helpful. I especially liked that some designs would really show off an antique lace edged or embroidered napkin since I inherited some of those and would like to use them occasionally. All in all, I'm very pleased with this book. It not only showed how to make the designs I had seen and admired, but has many, many other ideas for how to use a napkin to enhance a meal setting, from a casual outdoor barbecue to rewarding one family member with a crown or star for a special achievement to making your dinner party table something really special. Highly recommended.

It works!
This book was a present for 7 - 12 year old children. They loved it!And it really works. The instructions are easy to follow, the napkins come out just as on the photos. Folding napkins can be tricky: First you learn it, and one thinks now they have it down pat. But a year later, when needed again, the exact steps are forgotten! This is a great book, both first-timers and for refreshing the memory. The kids, who got this book, were busy for an hour - and surprised us all with a festive table of beautifully folded napkins.P.S.: Tip - it works best with generously sized cloth napkins, slightly starched.

User friendly
Very usable. Most all of the really nice folded designs can only be done on cotton or linen napkins. Or paper. Polyester or microfiber does not have the stiffness or foldability of the cotton of linen. Some simple designs can employ the synthetic fabrics, however. You need large paper napkins that are not too soft to do the paper designs. Here is where you can get into color. Some are very simple and elegant...some are more complex. Something for everyone.

Got it for Terri Jay and she caught on fairly quick. Then she said the directions could be better. She said napkins that look like an airplane would be more fun. Napkin planes wete flying all over the place. We decided to stay with the sail boat napkins cz after dinner we take a bath together. It is a very good book..

Great Book!
My grandaughter and I had so much fun folding napkins as I remember my mother doing for special occasions. This book is a great, with easy to follow directions (my 10 yr. old grandaughter followed them easily). This just takes you back in time, when everyone folded napkins in special shapes for those special occassions. Great addition

Very nice book
Our granddaughter learned origami in 4 th grade as a class project. Boys and girls both were taught it and most got hooked on the hobby. When we go to a restaurant, she turns our table napkin into a swan and other things. Giving her this book as a Christmas present, with cloth and paper napkins. The book has some great ideas and instructions, and I know she will like it.

OMG, fantastic….
I have had so much fun making beautiful presentation with my napkins even my daughter loves to try. The illustrations make it easy to follow and instructions are a breeze. Love it, recommend it if you are interested in folding your napkins in a different and attractive way, not just the typical folding all the time.

What can I say about this book other than it's amazing?! I'm sure I'll find hundred of other words to say about it when I get typing.I bought this book because it is an extension of origami that I am a huge fan of. This book is full colour and covers napkin folding with linen napkins and paper napkins. It does exactly what it says on the tin - the instructions are simple and the results are stylish. So far I have followed five of these tutorials and I am very impressed with the results. I purchased four cream linen napkins from Amazon for £9.99 and I bought some IKEA red paper napkins and got started. I have made the Valentine's Rose, the ice cream cone, the heart, the Bishop's Hat and the Tealight. At the front there is an information section to read before getting started, including the recommendation that you get heavy linen napkins. I was tempted to buy polyester napkins for £5.99 but I went that little further and spent £9.99 for cotton ones for best effect. Some of the designs require starch (but not all) which cost me £1 from Morrison's for a spray can.Buy this book. All of your guests will be amazed at your new skill and there are designs that are a bit more 'everyday' and some suitable for extravagant events like weddings (or when the Bishop comes to tea...)
