Setup tip
Looper works fine now, HOWEVER there was a minor issue getting started. I had the volume knob on my guitar set too low, and I could not hear the playback loop at all. So turn up the volume on the guitar and use the amp's volume control for overall sound level.

I don't care what the name is this thing is great
Absolutely flawless pedal, by far the best looper I personally have ever used (haven't been able to use the $300+ loopers yet so my opinion is limited in that regard). I particularly like the halfspeed function, it yields a lot of interesting possibilities with your overdubs. Watch any one of the youtube demos of this pedal and you'll see what I mean.As far as quantization goes, a lot of people (in other places on the internet) have complained about there being no quantize features. After having used this pedal for several months, I understand why that feature could be so helpful--if you're even slightly off on your timing, the loop will fall out of phase after X amount of cycles (depending on how far off you were initially). You could either work this into the performance and stop/restart after certain lapses of time, or you could work on making your timing better, which is what you should ideally be doing as a musician anyway. In that regard, I don't think the lack of quantization is even remotely a downside for this pedal considering all of its features for how inexpensive it is. I'm by no means a virtuoso and I'm probably not as good as many would-be guitarists you'd find on the street, but even I was able to eventually get my timing right to use this looper in conjunction with a drum machine WITHOUT phasing issues. It just took some practice. And that's where this pedal really shines: it makes practicing guitar extremely fun and newly inspiring, especially if you've been playing the same sh*t for too long and have run out of ideas. Having an option for a dedicated stop switch takes away the nuisance of double tapping the main switch every time to stop a loop, and the footswitches themselves are the softer-engage style (have no idea what the proper term is) that is easier to tap than the average footswitches that are rough on bare feet. You'll also enjoy layering with the various effects (reverse and half speed--watch the youtube demos), and with everything considered you'll probably be pleased with the results, not to mention the high audio quality of the loop itself (which shouldn't be understated). For $170 (I got mine ten dollars less when the price fell for a few weeks), you cannot buy a better looper than this. You just can't.

Power supply not included.
Great looper. 4 stars because it does NOT come with necessary 9v dc power supply (nor does the description mention this). I can’t think of another small electronic device that doesn’t include the power adapter.

took a chance
Works very well so far. I haven't got the button timing down yet but was quite surprised at how clear the loop was. This will be fun and will help me work on scales and modes. Glad I bought it.

My Experience, Not A Reliable Looper Out of the Box
Beware, this is an older model nowadays and you don't know really what you're getting in the box. I received the unit, played it a few times early on with no problems. Tried using it for a few ideas after it just sitting with the batteries installed. Only had it long enough for the return period to expire. The problem is major. When pressing the loop switch, a loud pop occurs and is recorded as part of the loop. So every loop has this loud pop and a second of no sound. When stopping the loop, there is a loud pop as well. Went to see if there was a fix by downloading firmware update and there were no updates for the X2 on the TC Electronics website. Had to read a ton of comments on the pedal and it's reliability, found a popping issue that dealt with possible capacitor charge buildup, nothing I can fix. Submitted a ticket to their Music Tribe customer service, will update review if they follow through.Update - I did receive a response with some solutions such as check PSU and hard reset; had done all that already. They said to contact third part seller, Alto Music, for warranty. Only an address on Amazon page for Alto so I started a chat with Amazon to see if there was a faster email address. Long story short, Amazon was able to allow me to return the defective unit! Amazon is reliable, TC products made in China are not.
