Shattered color wheel for Samsung HLP 4663WX
About 9 years of life with this TV and about 3-4 lamp replacements, the color wheel finally went. Had just replaced the lamp a week or so ago and everything was going great. Was researching online all the horror stories regarding replacing the color wheel. A couple of days later, when the loud grinding sounds started and the picture started flickering colors, I knew it had to be the color wheel.Did my research on Amazon and figured another $100+ plus investment would be worth the shot of doing it myself for my Samsung HLP 4663WX. Paid for expedited shipping and it arrived fast! Used a Youtube video to walk me through the process. Phew, lots and lots of different screws and awkward angles. And the dust! So much dust. As I was following the videos and keeping the screw placement straight, had the vacuum next to me to suck up as much dust as possible as I went along. The old color wheel had one of the segments shattered. Only complaint with the new color wheel is the gasket was really loose and made screwing it back in place a bit of a challenge.About an hour later and only 2 screws left over, crossed my fingers and plugged it back in hoping that it wouldn't blow up on me. Half hoping that it wouldn't come back on so I had an excuse to shop for a new unit. Came back on with no issues. Quiet as a mouse also. I guess I did something right. Here's hoping that I don't have to replace the color wheel again for another 9 years.Side note: also read that some folks had to adjust some jumper settings due to old and new style color wheel. Didn't have to with this model.

Perfect fit, easy install, excellent shipping
HLP-5063W 50" Samsung DLPColor wheel shattered one day as my daughter was watching TV. My first thought was the bulb, as I have had the TV for about 9 years or so and never had to replace the bulb (and I still haven't). When I got home from work and began to troubleshoot and see for myself what the problem was I noticed a loud humming and all three lights flashing on the power button when I attempted to power it on. I took the lamp out and it looked fine (the filament was intact) and so I proceeded to take the color wheel out and noticed it was shattered. There is an excellent set of videos on youtube which detail replacing the color wheel if you need the step by step. It's VERY easy to do.The color I purchased arrived in two days with expedited shipping (I was impressed as it was very close to Christmas). The packaging was outstanding to prevent damage to such a delicate item. The Fedex driver could have punted it or played soccer with the package and it would not have been damaged. The part looked exactly like my original and fit perfectly. I reassembled, powered the unit on and had my TV working just as good as the day I bought it.I did not need to remove the jumper on the TV control board for the new color wheel as others had to do. The jumper was already removed. As you look at the back of the TV the jumper is on the left side on the board behind the inputs for the HDMI, SVideo, etc. Also, make sure you have the back cover in place and also the smaller cover for the bulb as the unit will not turn on without them in place. I attempted to turn my unit on before screwing the back covers on just in case I missed something. I got the two blinking lights on the front of the unit reminding me to have the covers installed. I simply fitted them in place and did not screw them down until I verified the unit was working.I highly recommend this part, this seller, and doing it yourself and saving the money on a repair shop or new TV.

Perfect, and delivered in 3 days by ordinary shipping (USPS)
I bought my 50" Samsung TV in 2002, and the color wheel just failed (on 8/7/2013), so I got 11 years of service out of it. Same for the lamp. When the color wheel failed, it apparently flew apart and sounded like someone slammed a door - kind of scary actually, since I didn't think there was anything inside a TV that would make a bang like that.I would have never thought I would be able to fix it myself, and was ready to bring it in to a service center, but decided to see if there was anything on YouTube about this problem. To my amazement, there was a ton of stuff to help me. The most helpful was a multi-part YouTube video which showed me how easy it was (thank you hexagontaginal)!Following the video, I was able to remove the chassis from the TV that had the color wheel. I took off the color wheel housing cover and inside were tiny chips of fractured glass. They say the thing spins at about 10,000 RPM. It's amazing it lasted as long as it did.The replacement color wheel is the exact match of my old one, which is an "air bearing" type - the motor/bearing housing is silver colored. Also, I didn't have to worry about the jumper wire that Samsung mentions on their web site for this part.I also installed a new lamp which I got cheap. After working on it for about an hour, I got it all put back together, and held my breath, and turned it on. First I got the little "I'm on" tone, then the audio came on (no dreaded blinking lights), and then Presto, like magic, the picture! It was fixed! Now the TV is as good as new. I didn't realize how the picture brightness had faded because of the old bulb.Another nice thing is that I received the new color wheel in 3 DAYS, with normal shipping. - Amazon said it would take from one to two weeks! It was very well packed to protect it during shipping. There were no instructions that came with it, but that's fine because it was easy to follow the video.
