Great for my everyday lunches!
I love my Bentgo! I was getting tired of using ziplock bags (too much waste) as well as glass containers (too clunky) and mismatched plastic containers (well - okay. I realize that's just fine and functional, but I wanted something *sleek*, you know?). Hunting for Bento boxes online, I decided to go for the Bentgo as my first Bento to see if the Bento lifestyle worked for me. The price point is phenomenal for the size and quality. Go ahead and do a Google search for Bento box providers and you'll see what I mean. I found that, for about this price, you could get big Bento boxes that weren't microwave or dishwasher safe, or you could get teeny Bento boxes made out of durable, food-safe plastics. Now you see why I picked the Bentgo - a decent sized Bento that is microwave, dishwasher, fridge, and freezer safe, as well as BPA-free for under $15! Wow! Now for the Bentgo's performance. I LOVE this thing. I know some have mentioned they would like the size to be a little larger, but I have no qualms here. I normally put a leftover meal (i.e. chicken and rice something or other, pasta with a thick sauce, etc) in the lower compartment, with cold fruit and veggies in the top divided portion. I have also been able to pack a sandwich in the lower compartment if I cut it diagonally and situate the pieces so that they fit. I haven't had any situations where I wish I could pack more food in the Bentgo or anything like that. That's considering my usual lunchtime appetite, so YMMV. I'm not normally one to take salads for lunch, so I can't speak to how it works for salads, and that's where I have seen most people have issues with the Bentgo. As far as the Bentgo's watertightness goes, I have not had any issues here, either - so far. For thicker sauces, such as a thicker dressing (ranch, thousand island, etc) and some pasta sauces that aren't particularly viscous such as spaghetti sauce or thicker Alfredo's and pestos should not present any problems at all, really. As long as you're not replacing your football with your Bentgo or tossing it gleefully into the air as you walk, these sauces shouldn't come loose. I wouldn't recommend packing any oil and vinegar or broth-based soups in this thing, as they recommend against it, and I can see why. The silicone barrier seals well enough, but not completely, and the same goes for the upper lid. I have packed saucy dishes and ranch dressing in my Bentgo and have had no problems at all as long as I keep it upright. The strap also works well and fulfills its duties admirably: it appears to be strong, durable, and does it's job keeping the two compartments fitted together well. My only nit-picky item would be that the silicone barrier does stain, but it washes clean completely with just the stain left behind. This is purely cosmetic, and not anything I am concerned with at all, but it's worth mentioning. A simple bleach followed with a boil may take care of this issue, but I haven't tried that yet. Also, the utensils do pop out occasionally, but not always (for me). If they do pop out, I have found they do still keep the utensils in place during transit, they just aren't stuck in there. The Bentgo delivered on everything I was looking for in a Bento: size, ease, and durable plasticity. I am now happily enjoying the Bento lifestyle, thanks to the Bentgo!

Great little lunchbox!
This is a really nice lunchbox. It is well portioned for the entree, and two sides. The plastic is sturdy and feels like it will last a long time. There aren’t any latches, but the parts all stack and there is an elastic band to wrap around the whole kit that has worked for me to keep everything together in my carrier. The added plastic utensils are a great addition and come in handy. I’ve been using this to meal prep lunches for work and it has helped me save money and loose a little weight by helping me not buy lunch everyday and have proper meal portions. This is an easy recommendation from me. I say buy it, if you are on the fence.

A sleek, expertly designed lunch box that allows you to bring a whole meal!
On instagram, there are always a bunch of photos of food in bento boxes, and I got really jealous of the way people could put such a variety of foods in their bento boxes. Every Monday and Wednesday I bring a lunch box to school, and inside the lunchbox, I have some flimsy (probably harmful to my health) tuperware full of the food I brought for lunch. And if I wanted to bring chips, which I haven't been doing lately because I don't like to waste bags, I would have to bring it inside a bag. So I thought it'd be cool if I could find a cool bento box to bring my food in. And through Amazon, my favorite site for shopping, I found the Bentgo lunchbox! The reviews were extremely favorable towards the box, and it makes a lot of sense. The Bentgo lunch box has a very sleek design, which I love—the designer really thought out each aspect of the lunchbox. It's designed in a way that allows you to not only bring a main dish but also two sides or even a side and some dip. This is possible because the lunchbox is made out of two containers: one larger bottom container and one smaller container with a divider. The two containers are held together by a strap (what a great idea). This is great because it saves you from bringing too many separate containers and/or baggies. The fabulous design also allows me to bring reusable utensils (that were included in the package), so I would stop wasting plastic utensils from my school—what another great idea. I've only used the Bentgo lunchbox twice so far, but I'm already really glad I got it. My first lunch consisted of ramen noodles (and, admittedly, my second lunch consisted of ramen noodles) in the big bottom container and hummus and chips in the top container. Usually, before the Bentgo box, I would just bring ramen noodles to school, but because of the awesome divider in the top container, I was able to bring a snack in the top. All the exciting possibilities of stuff that I can bring in the top container along with my main meal in the bottom container is awesome! The idea of bringing fruits, vegetables, or chips in the top without having to baggie it up is awesome. The only thing is that because the top is smaller I wasn't able to bring as many tortilla chips as I wanted to, but it does hold a lot of dip. Now, as I said above, I had brought ramen noodles to school. I filled up the Bentgo with water at school, and then I microwaved it there. From that point, I closed everything up and brought it to a different building on my campus. When I opened up everything, there was absolutely no leaks. This is great because it shows how tight everything is sealed. The nylon strap really does a great job. It's obvious to see that each aspect of the Bentgo box was well designed. Really, I see myself using the Bentgo box a lot in my next two years as a college student. I love how the box is BPA free and how sturdy the box is, and I love how I won't be wasting plastic baggies carrying food. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Bentgo box to my friends because this easily beats bringing food in flimsy tupperware. So if you find yourself in need of a new lunchbox like I did, I don't think you could really go wrong with the Bentgo lunch box.

Review for the whole Bentgo Stackable Set
((we have the entire set, bags, 12oz cups, sauce cups, and this is a review for all of them since a set is really what you need)) These are great for kid's lunches, adult lunches, portion control meal planning, field trips, etc. Those that complain that it's smaller than they thought, the sizes are clearly listed and they are true to size. Anything larger and you'd either gorge yourself or waste food. We got these (all four colors) for our 9 and 11 year old boys (so they can mix and match the sets) to use for lunches at school; school lunches weren't enough for growing boys and were questionable at best. These are the perfect size to pack seven pinwheel sandwiches (burrito size tortilla rolled and cut) in the lower portion with either some chips, crackers, a box (medium size) yogurt covered raisins, cookie, etc. The upper sections are shorter and have a divide that you can't remove. Perfect for cookies or crackers on one side and apple slices with cubed cheese or fresh fruit on the other. The sauce cups (sold separately) are small. They are for sauces, don't trick yourself into thinking they are for anything but. They are SMALL. We use them for peanut butter for their apple slices, caramel, nutella, salad dressing, etc. The cup (sold separately) has FOUR latches and a sealing ring to keep liquids contained. The elastic band (in the lunch box, sold separately) is a little tricky to get around the cup at times, but with some practice a kid can get it figured out without making a mess. The cup is 12 oz which is the perfect size for a school lunch (milk carton is less than 8oz). There is room in the bag (if you remove the sauce cups) for a bag of chips or something else, that additional area is about the size of the section used for the 12oz cup. The sauce cups are designed to fit into the lower portion of the set with their lids on (that's how short they are). The bag (sold separately) isn't pretty, it's just an insulated bag with netting in the lid to hold something. It isn't anything to rave about and is rather boring (I wish they had some type of print design or something on them because they are REALLY boring). But, it fits everything snugly and securely, and is nicely made. The perfect compliment to this lunch stackable lunch box, or the entire set, is the Bentgo ice packs (sold separately). You can pick them up for cheap. There are four to a pack, pick the color you want (we have the silver and green ones). They are thin and designed to perfectly fit on the bottom of the secured (meaning the two compartments with the elastic band) containers, the band holding it in place on bottom. With the tote, you can place all four ice packs in it if needed for longer chilling. Two is all you need, in my opinion (one on bottom and one in the netted section on the lid). The only negative is that the silverware can sometimes be a pain in the butt to set in place. They like to pop out if you don't put them in there correctly. Before you use it, wash it for the first time, is look at how the silverware is set (since it is done correctly in the factory), take a picture if you have to, because it'll make it so much easier for you in the future.

Cute, but no.
Oof. Okay. Let me be very transparent and admit that I could have read the reviews better and chosen a more suitable option for myself. I take full responsibility for my decision to buy this, and I wish the company much success in the future and hope that whoever chooses this product is truly happy with it. First off — it is STUNNING! absolutely just the cutest ever. I am obsessed with having all my accessories pink/rose gold, so I think I just blacked out for a second when I first saw it. I didn’t even add to cart. The portion size to me was absolutely perfect. For reference, it fit about a palm-sized piece of fish, half cup of rice, and half cup of mixed bell peppers on bottom. On top, I was able to put a small sliced apple on one side and a pack of instant oatmeal on the other. It is also very easy to clean. However, It doesn’t stay together without the strap at all and the whole thing just feels very clumsy. The utensils did not stay in their holders for me. Basically, the only part that really snaps into place is the very top marbled lid. You can take just the top part and the lid, but the lid will not snap on to the bottom section by itself. Also, it is not leak proof whatsoever. With all of the various options out there, I just feel like at this point that should be a standard for any type of storage container. With my job/lifestyle it’s been an absolute nightmare. IN SUMMARY : It’s just for looks and not functionality. If you just want something cute that you can take from point A to point B (in the upright position) you may like it. If you move around a lot or were considering this for a child’s backpack, I urge you to look elsewhere. I will be seeing about returning it or giving it to a friend.

Excellent Bento Box
I initially bought one for my husband to try out. I was slightly skeptical because the shape looked a bit awkward in the video, larger than what I thought I wanted. Since I like to pack big lunches for my husband, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out. Just after a few weeks of using it, I had to go and buy my own. I loved it that much. Some of my favorite features are: - It packs compactly in the cupboard. The smaller container fits snugly inside the larger one and the lids all snap together. - The box is usable even if you only use the larger bottom one. The band fits well enough that the top won't go flying off. I've never attempted to use the smaller divided box by itself, but I would think the band would be a little too loose. - It microwaves well if you follow the instructions and don't put the lids in the microwave. I haven't noticed any warps from reheating. - It cleans up well in the dishwasher. I put the top lids on the top rack and the bottoms sometimes go in the lower rack and we haven't noticed any changes between how the lids fit afterwards. - The utensils are pretty handy! This was a suprise to me. They're made of sturdy plastic and don't bend when you're cutting up something for lunch. - It fits a good amount of food, plenty for an entire workday. If I'm using both boxes, I like to pack my breakfast in the smaller top box and my lunch in the bottom box. I'm definitely stuffed afterwards. - The pieces are color coordinated. I like how I know which box has which lid because the logo is colored. Just a cute touch since all the pieces are interchangeable regardless of color. A few noticeable cons: - The lids don't snap shut and you MUST use the belly band to hold it all together. To me, this isn't a dealbreaker. An older box I had from a different manufacturer had snaps on the sides which actually broke apart after just a few months of use. There was no easy way of securing it after that. This box holds snugly with the band so I'm not too concerned. Just don't go tipping it all over the place. - It's not liquid safe. I wouldn't use this for any foods that are liquidy like stews or pastas. The bottom box may be slightly more liquid tight, but I wouldn't risk it. - The bottom box can be scratched if you use the included knife utensil. Again, not a dealbreaker since no plastic is completely impervious. It had small scratches, not huge gouges after using the knife. I'm just a little more careful now. Overall, my husband and I both love it. The price is perfect for the quality and I'm thinking of gifting these to some friends and family members looking to start packing lunches for work.
