Ice Cream Scoop with Modern Heat-Conducting Aluminum Ergonomic Handle (Red)

Red. One of my favorite kitchen colors. Actually, it is THE favorite color in my kitchen. So naturally, red ice cream scoop that is heated by your hand—must have.Until it wasn’t. Day one, a small chip on the edge. Ok, maybe that happens. Day two, another chip. Day three, four, five, you get the idea. By the end of a week, the whole edge was chipped, with some of those flakes ending up in my ice cream. Very frustrating. It’s so pretty, and I wanted it to be perfect, so I tried again, swapping out the first one for another one. And...Same thing. Tried a third time. Three scoops doing the exact same thing is no coincidence. The statistics are not likely. So, I returned this one and moved onto another ice cream scoop brand altogether.As for function, if you are ok with flakes, it works really well. The aluminum core does a great job of using your hand’s heat to warm the scoop and make ice cream scooping a simply task.Bottom line: it looks nice before you start using it, but there seems to be a tendency of the red paint flaking off.

Easy to hold? Unexpectedly smallEasy to clean? Not sure. It feels, after washing and re-washing, a little - greasy?That may just be the unusual and very good looking bright blue paint. Mine came with a small chip out of the edge of the scoop and some kind of irregularity or smudge seemingly baked right into the paint on the handle but no big deal. It looks great. I chose it because we needed an easy scoop and I was wary of those with the liquid in the handle for warming, making it easier to dip into hard frozen ice cream. This scoop was described also to provide easier dipping, but with the warming effect being conducted “naturally” from the heat of the scooper’s hand. We couldn’t really tell , but imagine the surprise when we checked the box. Instructions said something like this: if you still have trouble serving the ice cream, dip the scoop in warm water and try again. Well that worked :)

This scoop did not perform as advertised. It stated that it was heat conducting, but I did not find that was a feature of this one. I did use it for 2 1/2 years and finally some of the blue coating came off near the tip inside the scoop. Luckily, I washed the scoop before having the milk shake I made. The blue coating was in the glass with the ice cream, I would have drank it, had I not noticed the spoon. I would never buy this type again.

Every time you buy an ice cream scoop it breaks..maybe 1 month or 2. 3 even. Then the scooper part breaks and does not allow you to scoop. I had given up on ice cream scoops and use a pain in the butt large tablespoon. I came across this on one of the facebook feeds saying amazon gadgets that were top rated. So i figured what is the worse that can happen? return? BUT NO!! i love it. It makes scooping so much easier. the icecream rolls into a ball. it glides right across. this is awesome!! i eat more ice cream b/c of it. which that is another story all together. buy it . you wont be dissapointed

This is a really nice scoop. The color is vibrant and it scoops through frozen ice cream well. That's what I want from an ice cream scoop more than anything - not having to wait until the ice cream softens. If you want perfectly shaped balls of ice cream this might be the one for you; but, this is pretty close to circular and the scooping while firmly frozen is more important to me.

I love using this ice cream scoop. It is easy to scoop and ball ice cream using it as it cuts through cold, hard ice cream like a hot knife cuts butter. I have no idea if it truly does conduct heat but I will give Berco Kitchen the benefit of the doubt. I suppose I could do a test using an infrared thermometer before and after I touch it. If I do, then I will update this post. I like that the scoop is red and it feels sturdy.I messed up by returning the first one because I should have simply exchanged it or asked for a replacement. I was simply going to purchase it again at a latter date using the refund; however, I did not receive my refund by Amazon after it was received by Amazon on 7/11. I felt that the first one I received was used because the lettering was faint on the work kitchen but it may have been caused when it was applied. Their customer service was extremely helpful and responded promptly. They shipped me a new one free of charge. I am completely satisfied with the product and Berco Kitchen's customer service. I recommend this product to all ice cream lovers. The price is not too much considering it will probably last a lifetime.

We have struggled over many years on scooping ice cream that is too hard to scoop. My husband has been very frustrated over the years, and bent many spoons also. He like good frozen ice cream but until we got the word on this product, we had no idea it could be sooo easy! We love this product and would highly recommend it to anyone who hates to fight with the old time scoops!!

It's ridiculous that an item like an ice cream scooper isn't dishwasher safe. We used it for about two months and the paint coating started chipping off--into our ice cream, so I had to throw it away.
