Thank you God for your gift of this servant.
Father Calloway does an amazing job of explaining his conversion, to where I had chills in some places.I was not like him as a teenager, I had him in female form as two daughters after they turned eighteen. One went to state and federal prison and then came home was clean for ten years, then started back. But guess what happened? She heard Father Calloway tell his story on YouTube while in California in a rehab across the street from a Catholic church. You see I was the Catholic mother praying all the time and sent her the video because my mother and I had her children, and Father Calloway spoke to her with his story and Christ reached her heart and she is clean two years and has all her children back now and is Catholic by desire until she begins RCIA classes.Thank you for your book, thank you for sharing your story and thank you for staying strong against all that try to beat you back down, because Momma Mary and your momma have your back.God Bless youRenea

I was so impressed about the type of life that Fr Calloway had since a very young age. But what really shocked me was the conversion process, I really cry when I read it, and her mother praying give me a signal that I am in the right path praying daily for my kidsThanks Fr. For sharing your story

An action-filled conversion-biography that recalls St. Augusine
The best conversion story I've read since reading Thomas Merton's "The Seven Storey Mountain" a quarter of a century ago. Comparisons to the conversion of Augustine are valid. Father Calloway has the humility to go into his sins, his life of sex, drugs, rock and roll, and crime. His acting out, his sorrows seemed to proceed from having three different fathers early on in the wake of his Mom's two divorces. As St. Augustine famously wrote, "You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you", so Father devastates the emptiness of much of what the world has to offer in a couple of key passages:"It dawned on me that since I was nine or 10 years old, I had put a lot of different things on my tongue looking for happiness. I had drunk a lot of different liquids looking for that eternal high, something that was 'more', something that would satisfy me forever. ... I had experienced every sensual satisfaction one could possibly have with a woman, I'd heard every kind of music, done every kind of drug, and at times I'd even had money. But in the end, it all seemed worthless. I always seemed to be back at nothing. Life sucked for me and I didn't want to go on with the charade any longer. ... Here was the answer. God! ... (He) invited me to partake of His very self, the food that brings eternal life and the drink that sustains. ... [T]he Eucharist sustains us; it's the bread of the holy. ... I knew the Church was like a hospital for ill people like me. Jesus was the doctor and the medication. And it is all free!" (PP. 172,151)Born in 1972, Father is about 7 years younger than me. This book might be excellent to give to someone in their 40s or 50s, maybe a little older, maybe a little younger, whose conversion you are praying for, because of all the interesting cultural references Father makes. Some of these include:The Grateful Dead (PP. 113-119,124,158,177), Led Zeppelin (40,86,157), Bon Jovi (23,92), AC/DC (158), Tears For Fears (71), Pink Floyd (114), "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" (157), "E.T." (62), "Starsky & Hutch" (57), "The Shining" (148), "The Wizard Of Oz" (165), the video game "Frogger" (24), the Philadelphia 76ers (115), NASCAR (119), and many, many more.Father has talent as a writer. Like a movie that starts with a chase and then flashes back, "No Turning Back" starts with a young Donald Calloway being chased through Japan by the authorities. The book is not boring. The early action hooks you in before Father starts to slow things down a bit by writing about the roots of his problems.

Everyone Enjoys Rooting For Underdogs
I’m like everyone else in that I love rooting for underdogs sometimes. During the first half of this story, I was rooting over and over, for Father to see the light and stop scaring his parents. I was so glad when I got to the point in the story when he began to convert and change. It’s an ongoing process for sure. (I really hope his family found their dog BTW….. it drove me crazy that he never told us) Father thanks for telling this story that will inspire many. It was a unique path to priesthood for sure. I’ll be happy for pray for you ! I’m so glad you were able to turn your life around.

Hope for Mothers
I wish that audible version is made and if the author is the one narrating the story, it would be so wonderful. I have purchased two of Scott Hahn's book which he himself did the narration. It is so amazing.
