Some reviewers talked about this pan as a great individual plate and I thought, huh? It's 15x9 approx., they must be giants! But, I looked at my rectangular pyrex dish for size comparison and I didn't figure that this pan's dimensions included the handle. Also, this pan is oval and this does make it narrow because of the tapering, making it feel much smaller than the actual dimensions, and it has a shallow lip, not deep like a regular pan, so pushing food around might get messy if you were grilling because it would probably spill over. That said, I kept it anyway because it's sturdy, has that handy wooden plate to rest it on so you can be sure you won't scorch any of your surfaces, and the handle holder is handy though you have to wrangle it onto the (hot) handle before taking the pan out of the oven, probably better to use a larger pot holder to take the pan out of the heat and then put the smaller cover on then. This would not be a problem if you were solely using it on a grill. I use this pan to roast sausages in the oven, it fits about five brats if they "spoon" behind each other. I do use a wee bit of oil to prevent the sausages from sticking, only because it takes a while for them to generate their own cooking juices and they can stick to the metal in the mean time which makes them hard to turn over. I let the pan cool completely before washing with warm water but no soap, pat dry, quick spray of oil, rub the excess off with a paper towel and then store. Never a problem with rust that way. Will probably get another one so I can do onions or other veg to bring to the table. Great value for money, stylish to look at, and cleverly designed.

I purchased two of these. For a dinner for one I do my entire dinner on it. Veggies (peppers, onion, yams, beets, potatoes, carrots... whatever veggies you like) with a drizzle of olive oil and a good amount of chosen spice, with a frozen fish filet on the top, seasoned with lemon and spice. Cook for 30 minutes at 425. One dish to clean. For more than one person, I use both cast iron platters. Easy to clean, food does not stick. So good! Lodge quality is wonderful!
