Got my kid, who was celebrating his birthday on April 13th ;), to read! So... it's a winner!

The book arrived quickly, however half of the top of the book has been completely cut off. Some of the words and part of the title are missing. Not a happy customer considering this was a Christmas Gift. (See attached photos)

Clayton Geoffreys in-depth biography is a chronological recount of Kobe Bryant’s eventful and legendary career from a positive, praising standpoint. The book begins by introducing Kobe as a young child, explaining his early life circumstances, as well as how his situation and certain parts of his life influenced his career that followed. The book then segways into the beginnings of his legacy, starting with his “incandescent performance”even as a high schooler, and then details his jump from high school to the NBA, his own personal “leap of fate”, and then becomes a sequential recount of Kobe’s NBA career, with various anecdotes that add to the character of Kobe Bryant interspersed throughout the book. Although this book was written while Kobe was still in the league, his legacy, such as “being one of NBA’s greatest individual performers” and entrance into the conversation of the greatest ever made for a great follow up to the to-be-continued chronological retelling of Kobe’s career. The book closes out by telling how Kobe, on and off the court, ultimately affected the game of basketball itself - “one of [the NBA’s] most notable winners”. Although some concepts in this book are hard to grasp for a young person, the author uses language that is clear enough for anyone to understand, and still conveys points extremely effectively. An interesting aspect of this book is the fact that it is written in a format of a story, with a clear plot, but still is considered a biography because of the way it presents that plot and the information that it holds, which makes the book very engaging. This is a specific example of why I consider the book exceptional. Through clear language, the book presents information and is organized into a plot that develops the personality and attributes of Kobe Bryant (the purpose of the book) which ultimately keeps the reader engaged and makes the book an informative, interesting read. When Kobe retires, in general, basketball fans will look back on Kobe Bryant’s career and reflect on it as an especially memorable one, and will look back on Kobe as maybe one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball. The only asterisk that could possibly be placed by Kobe Bryant’s name in the list of NBA players with great behavior is his controversial rape case. The case tainted Kobe’s reputation and the author made sure to include this major event in Kobe’s career from the least bias standpoint he could. The book, overall, praises Kobe Bryant and all of his accomplishments, which makes it hard to incorporate an aspect so negative into this book, but the author does it gracefully, and efficaciously. Through how the book handled explained that situation and other ones give me a better mental image of Kobe Bryant, which is what the author set out to do. Overall, this book doesn’t have any negatives. In my mind, and I’m sure in every one else’s mind who read this book, Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest NBA players of all time, which was conveyed well by this book. Furthermore, I gained a more accurate understanding of Kobe’s legacy and his greatness, which I view to be the best outcome of reading this book.

Got this for my son for Xmas as he lives basketball!! Was expecting a proper paperback book, a full autobiography but this is more of a pamphlet type book. Very thin, only 59 pages with large type! More of a brief summary of Kobe Bryant! Think there's more info on Wikipedia!!!
