I soaked my supposedly clean white towels (White with no marks) And the water was very discolored, and they were even whiter! Instructions: -add extremely hot water ⅓ of the tub -add 2½ cups of borax and stir until fully dissolved. -Put towels in and swirl around a bit. -stir towel/item around every few hours to ensure every inch get a good evening soak. -let sit overnight. - drain tub -wring out the towels/items and throw them in the washing machine -dry as usual. 🪄TA DA 🎩

I am a huge advocate of 20 Mule Team Borax and probably can't say enough good things about it. Not only is it environmentally safe, it is a very powerful laundry additive. I originally purchased the product when I had a baby in diapers because it is one of the best laundry deodorizers on the market. In those days (yes I'm that old) we used Borax in our diaper pails because it eliminated the odors and its natural ingredients were never harsh on the baby's skin. I actually used to keep my top-loading washing machine with a tub full of Borax in water and just throw the baby's things in there when they were dirty. About every few days I would run the load of clothes - perfect baby clothes with no stains! About ten years ago I got my first 'he' front-loading washing machine and of course began to struggle with the stinky mildew-y smell those machines can develop. I read somewhere that instead of paying exorbitant amounts for the "official" tub cleaning tablets, you could run an occasional cycle of just Borax and not only eliminate the odor, but do so much more economically and with an environmentally friendly product. I've been using Borax for that purpose ever since. The combination of using Borax to clean the machine and always leaving the door ajar just a bit ensure I never have a smelly washer! Currently, I live with extremely hard water and for a while after I moved here, I was struggling with getting clothes as bright and clean as I like. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until a neighbor told me it was because the water here is so hard. (I actually suspected my new washing machine was the culprit!) I researched what to do about hard water online and got led to Borax! Sure enough, I checked out the Borax box and saw a treatment for hard water (1/2 cup per load, but because of the water conservation features of my new washer, I use about 1/4 cup). Sure enough - clothes are back to the beautiful clean I love! Try this product. I think you'll be pleased.
