Just fantastic all round
I have been shaving with this razor for well over a year now. Absolutely incredibly put together and it never fails to deliver. Glad to have found it.

Supper happy
I bought the razor in 2020 and I have been using it since then. I am very happy with the purchase.

Brutal shaving experience
This blade truly corresponds to its name by delivering the most brutal shaving experience! And I am saying this after shaving for 31 years with everything from cheap disposable razors to the expensive electric shavers. Every time I use it, I get the most severe skin irritation, as well as bleeding above the lip and on the sides of the neck. My skin hurts for days after that. This is one of the worst purchases I have ever made: an overpriced torture device, not a shaver.

Great Safety Razor
Build quality for this razor is second to none, it's well balanced and feels great in hand, for me, it's my first safety razor but I couldn't ask for more, it worth mentioning that for someone who was using cartridge razors there is a bit of learning curve, but indeed you have to go the lowest settings (1 or less) until you get used to it, in addition, go for Feathers blades, it's the best you can get out there. One thing to add, you can use the razor blade box as a travel case to protect it instead of buying one.

Good build quality
The build Quality is really good. Better than what I expected after watching online images and review. I checked to see if I could find any hits/bumps/scratches/defects but it was flawless from outside only a bit metal chips once you open the butterfly door at the part when the handle joins the head of the razor it feels quite heavy, have to see how it survives in the long run. unfortunately cannot add images as the Add Photo option is missing for me

This is an extraordinary razor, give it a try, you will not be disappointed. I purchased this from Amazon.com.au after much hesitation caused by some very negative reviews here. I encountered none of the issues they complained of, and am so glad I took the chance. It seems to me, one has only to read the instructions (clearly printed on the beautiful presentation box), and none of the alleged problems arise. This is dual head DE razor with a butterfly closure and adjustable aggression settings (1-10). Form and finishing are superb (as is the exquisite packaging) - it is delight to look at and to hold. Although considerably shorter than my Merkur Future razor, the weight of the Meiji has real heft and presence. Build quality is also superb- if, as I do, you like the aesthetic, it is practically a piece of shaving art. I paired this with a Derby extra blade, and Mitchell's wool fat soap. This was a delight to use right out of the box. The perfect angle was easy to find, control was very certain with the heavily knurled handle. The result was a BBS shave in two passes. No slips, no cuts, easy glide and it cuts so very smoothly. The design and dual heads (i.e. closed flat bar on one side and open comb on the other) meant I was able to crank up the aggression setting to 5. By comparison, I never take my Merkur past 2. This is a razor that is likely to let you find your own sweet spot, whether a beginner or experienced DE user, would make a very fine gift, and is probably the equal of far more expensive alternatives. My Merkur may remain my everyday go to, but this was a treat to use. Very highly recommended.

I primarily wanted a razor to do light shaving of my face and mostly my head since all the cartridge razors are a bit too aggressive and I had wanted hopefully an "in between" shave. This is the first time I've been able to do my head without nicks and cuts. I used the straight side with the lowest setting. The setting seems to affect its ability to open as wide as it can so it will open the most at the max setting. I didn't notice any looseness in the adjustment dial or the dial for the doors. It's heavy enough it feels like you can hurt someone with it and I love the heft and thickness and the slight length on the handle compared to the other razor that I have. I didn't do anything fancy, just a bit of conditioner and shaving cream on my head like I would do for any other kind of razor and have the slightest itch but no nicks at all or discomfort. My point of reference is using a safety razor a handful of times and have a short Van Der Hagen one which is light, thin, and even shorter than this. Not really the biggest fan plus chrome can be slick and its handle knobbing being too smooth made me look for something in the style of this one. The etched knurling on this handle feels great to me. I feel like I could get a good grip on it short of my hands being doused in oil. I coupled this with a Wilkinson sword blade for the first run as I am still getting a good feel for blades but if this holds up this has to be a good one. I also really really like the short length even as someone with relatively large hands it never felt like it was going to get away from me or that I would drop it even in awkward positions. It also did not get clogged up with hair or cream as bad as my other. If this holds up it is a fantastic piece. I also love the coloring and overall style of it, everything about it says quality in my eyes so far. I just wanted something that I could get a comfortable shave since sometimes even good razors can be very problematic on my skin and I don't need to go Krillin smooth but didn't want the typical electric stubble either and this seems to fit the bill perfectly. This one would be great for beginners but the price is the ONLY thing I think would be prohibitive but the flexibility of the adjustment is fantastic for beginners and as you get more confident or want to shave different parts differently it's a great pick so far. Edit: Astra's definitely still very much bite on the minimum setting if you aren't careful lol.
