Solid and secure
I just replaced all my old cold shoes on my light stands that I used for my speedlights, and the one on my camera bracket with these cold shoes. This are very well made and securely hold the shoe on the speedlights. If you need cold shoes, for anything, I would totally recommend these ones from Smallrig. This is the first time I've purchased any Smallrig products and I am completely impressed.

95% Excellent.
I was impressed and slightly disappointed. The design, fit & finish is excellent. But for one irritation and one problem. My problem (which I solved) was that my particular foot is too thin & fits very loosely in the slot of the mount, but it's the only foot (1/4-20) I find sold apart from a kit. Too thin (~1.8-mm) because the spring-loaded keeper was very, very slightly too short to keep the thin foot from sometimes riding up & pushing down. When I shook the mount lightly the foot sometimes fell out.My solution was to disassemble the unit and replace the factory spring with one I pulled from a clicker ink-pen & cut to length. The firmer spring keeps the keeper raised against the thin foot trying to wiggle out. The stiffer spring makes inserting the foot require a moment's more attention to the insert angle, but well worth the added security. It also insists on the button push to release the foot, originally brushing a finger on the keeper was enough. The weight of an item mounted on the foot may still allow this thin foot to escape due to movement, but now its much less likely. The slight irritation is that the rectangular slot in the shoe is about 5-mm too long for this 18-mm square foot; the foot slides to & fro. I solved that with a small spacer (a bit of popsicle stick), glued into the back of the slot. My pocket camera will now sit happily when mounted near the computer.(fyi-The slot is ~20-mm wide & its ~2-mm high (slightly more than the thickness of a nickel).[Since you ask ;-) To change the spring, unscrew the button (large side) by first using a gripper to turn it gently to break the button's glue grip on the threaded end of the through rod. Then unscrew the button, and the spring, rod & keeper drop out. The new spring fits partly inside the button; cut it a millimeter or two longer than the original spring. Fiddle back into place the keeper then the rod, and gently screw on the button with the spring. Adjust spring length as needed to fit or to adjust the pressure.

I am truly impressed with the performance and durability of the equipment, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend this brand to any photographers looking to elevate their craft and capture stunning images. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and would not hesitate to buy from this brand again in the future.

Great addition to the rig!
Great addition to the camera cage. The picture does not show very well, but the center bolt comes out, and the bottom of the adapter is threaded (standard 1/4 -20). The O-ring on the bottom adds friction so it does not back off. This means it screws right onto a magic arm without issues.Usually put the external mic on top of the camera cage (one adapter there). But if outside, and the weather starts to turn, the rain cover wont work, so ended up using a clamp/magic arm with one more adapter on the end. super easy to clamp right below the camera (off of the tripod), so still can capture better sound, fit the camera weather cover and keep the camera dry.Nicely packaged--the adapter (with an O ring to act like a lock washer and keep it in place), the 1/4 20 bolt and an allen wrench. The bottom of the adapter is threaded, so just remove the bolt and screw into the magic arm (or any other place it needs to go)
