Masterful Blend of Fun and Learning
Do you have a child in your life that just can't get enough of Sesame Street. Or maybe, a struggling young reader? Or even, preschool reader ready for more challenges. If so, then Sarah Albee book " I Can Do It" would be a good choice.Highlights:From the intricately woven rhyming scheme and predictable sentence structure .... to the message of balancing what you can do for yourself and when to ask for help; this little reader packs just the right amounts of each.Details: In an effort to shorten some of my otherwise lengthily book reviews, I have created mind map for the Book Details of "I Can Do It".Because a picture really is worth 1,000 wordsHappy Reading....

Such a disappointment!
Both my sister and I started out on learn to read Sesame Street books some many decades ago. At that time, they were wonderfully well done. Easy to understand, used beginner language and repetition of words throughout the story. This however, has none of that! Some of the words are far too complex for a beginner, preschool-aged reader and the story is terribly confusing! Each page starts with an "I spy...." - the first, for example being "something blue and cute...." followed by "is it Grover Monster" (who is clearly blue and cute!) and then "no! It's Betty Lou's boot!" (almost imperceptibly small on the page, but also blue and cute.) I get that that's rather the point of I Spy - picking a clue that could fit many different items within ones view and making people guess, but that idea is a little complex for a very young child. Finding anything that fits a detailed clue is sort of a triumph. Having to explain that, yes, that thing fits my clue, but no it's not what I'm looking at is great for a four or five year old but not a two or three year old.We had to change the "no" on every page to "or" so that my son could look for and choose one of the many options on the page fit each "I spy" description. I feel like I spend more time trying to explain the nuances of I Spy than I do teaching words and letters - not they these are good words to be teaching to begin with. Thank goodness we have some of the "vintage" books from when my sister and I were small!

Great book
My daughter loves reading this book. She quickly learned some of the tasks after reading this book. (i.e, pouring water/juice herself!!)
