I have begun using this book to guide a student who has been finding it difficult to focus on study as a purposeful activity. So far, I have found the exercises surprisingly effective. They appear deceptively simple and need some adaptation to the student's particular situation. but are effective starting points form which to enable the student to look at himself and his situation with new eyes.

I bought this book as I was struggling with poor learning behaviour and attitude in my Year 6 (primary) class. I already knew a lot about mindsets, but felt that the "teach the children about mindsets and they will start to work" view that some of my colleagues had was far too simplistic. The VESPA model addresses a wider range of issues and I took a lot of inspiration from this book. Definitely recommended, even if you're not teaching A level.
