One-third of the time, the author was self-bragging his achievements. I would have been alright if he had written them as examples of his achievements, but it was clearly in a bragging tone. Out of the 120 advices, i would say less than 20 of them are good wise ones, the rest are outdated or nothing surprising. It is one of the few books i regret buying. I would not recommend it, I would recommend spending your money on Paul Arden's Whatever-you-think, think-the-opposite.

This book is for those in business, advertising, design, or creative fields, or anyone seeking timeless advice on success, influence, and meaningful work. George Lois’s book offers valuable advice and inspiring life lessons, highlighting creativity and confidence. He’s often accurate, despite appearing overly confident. Here is some excellent advice from his book. Focus on the Big Idea Every Trend Can Be a Trap Avoid Following the Crowd Embrace Risks Simplicity is Key Stay True to Your Values Persist with Passionate Commitment Tommy Hilfiger hesitated about George Lois’s billboard ad, but it elevated him among top designers, exceeding expectations. Calvin Klein was upset, saying it took 20 years to reach Hilfiger, but George replied, “Why would it take twenty years when you can do it in 20 days?” Did he deserve that confidence? Success isn’t just about creativity. George aimed to win the Quaker Oats Company in Chicago, but their customer thought New York was too far for quick meetings. After hanging up, he and his partners rushed to catch a flight to Chicago and arrived before lunch. The client was impressed and awarded him the business immediately. His takeaway? “Woody Allen was right: 80% of life is showing up!” You don’t have to agree with him on everything. For instance, George was strongly against spending time on Twitter (now X). Ironically, I learned about George Lois through Twitter. His book is easy to read, straightforward, and very engaging. A truly excellent book, I will read over and over.
