Q: Which is better, this or the EverCreme balm?

This is the balm, it is in the name. I personally LOVE this stuff. You have to wash your hair with regular shampoo every few days and use a clarifying shampoo once a week. But on the other days use this, your hair will be full of body and beautiful!

Q: Is this both a shampoo and conditioner, is it good for itchy, flaky dandruff, is it for both genders, is it safe on chemically straightened hair?

This a 6-in-1 hair care product. It cleanses like shampoo but contains no detergent plus it treats itchy scalp, softens, conditions and detangles. It is not medicated like most dandruff shampoos but it cools and soothes the itch (one of the main reasons I use it) The aromatic scent of botanical oils is not gender specific. This L'Oreal EverPure product is safe for color-treated or processed hair.

Q: Will this wash styling products (hairspray, dry shampoo, gel, etc.) out of hair?

Yea. It’s a cleansing conditioner

Q: Is there some trick to opening this? Sometimes I spin the top around to the left and it pops up but other times is just spins and spins.

I agree those pumps suck, you usually give it a half turn and it pops up slightly then its open
