Truly enlightening!
To be candid, at age 83 I won't be learning how to speak or write Japanese. That said, like so many English speaking folks, I have long been in awe of Japanese and Chinese figures, with their often great complexity and seemingly artistic quality. How, I have wondered, could one ever learn to draw these figures, produce them quickly, and then bind them together in some sort of fluency so a to communicate with them in verbal and written form. Happily, this remarkable workbook makes much of this clear, not only demonstrating the phonetics of each symbol and how it is constructed, but explaining how the variations in meaning that subtle additions to such symbols are used to express. Then, there are the pages and grids included here that allow the practice and repetition needed to get a foothold in this process, which, as in the case of learning anything well, will naturally require both dedication and persistence. From this detailed presentation, I am happy to to say that I learned a great deal, not that I will use it. But at least now, I have the gained the satisfaction of understanding how this heretofore mysterious system of communication works.

A quality resource sure to help you learn Japanese characters
This is a quality book designed to help learners easily pick up skills to reading and writing Japanese characters. I like how this book explained the difference between different Japanese scripts. The book is simple, yet detailed, and has plenty of practice pages so readers can master the characters. I appreciate the way this book shows how to pronounce the characters and then shows the order in how to draw them. A copy of this book was provided for me by the author. All opinions are my own.

Perfect for learning!
Years ago, I studied a Japanese martial art and began my journey in learning the language. At one point, I learned both katakana and hiragana. Over the years, that knowledge has faded and this book was perfect to get me back on track. Very easy to use with step by step stroke instructions and plenty of practice space.

Gut, aber muss überarbeitet werden...
The media could not be loaded.
