good slow burn then a ton of action
Absolutely excellent acting. Small spoiler here but there's a scene where Jeffrey Donovan is mourning the loss of his colleague Robert Patrick and he's trying to debrief a couple of these FBI guys and there's this moment where he just sits there holding back the emotion and it looks so real. There've been a bunch of times in my life where I've had to talk but all I really wanted to do is cry, and I felt that scene summed up that emotion so perfectly. Of course, Liam Neeson is a great actor and everything he does in this movie is fantastic and really plays to his strengths but Jeffrey Donovan's subtle expression of sadness, suspicion, and conviction is a masterpiece. I wish it was an award for subtle acting because he would have earned it from this performance. I love this movie, and I'm just sad that it's going to slowly fade in my Consciousness over the next five years as I forget about it. It's a great movie but I doubt it's ever going to become a classic or something that will truly be remembered. It'll be just something that's kind of shuffled around from streaming service to streaming service. Definitely a good watch. Pop open your favorite beverage, make some popcorn, sit down, settle in and enjoy this movie. Five stars!

Another Liam Neeson Classic
Really enjoyed this film. Non-stop with twists and turns from beginning to end. Nothing like a Blu-ray on a 75" Sony .... with surround sound and a really good story and excellent acting ....

Decent thriller, good acting, but at times formulaic and lots of plot holes
Honest Thief (2020). Tom Carter (Liam Neeson), a bank robber known as the In-and-Out Bandit, a nickname he hates, is really good at what he does, successfully stealing millions in cash, 12 heists in 8 years, all small town banks with older safes. No one has any idea who he is, he never hurt anyone, perfect. Then he meets Annie Wilkins (Kate Walsh), who manages a self storage place where Tom hides the stolen money. He falls in love with her. Fast forward a year later, he wants to have a life with her and come clean and make a deal with the FBI, in return for confessing and turning over the millions (not having spent any of it) he wants a reduced sentence in a prison in the area and visitation rights, put all this behind him and live with Annie.Trouble is he has a very hard time finding anyone in the FBI taking him seriously or even coming to see him. Finally some junior agents come see him, really don't take him seriously, and to humor him agree to go see the self storage unit (without Tom).Almost not finding the boxes with the money and writing Tom off, one of the agents finds a box with lots of cash at last. Then they find several boxes, easily millions. And then instead of arresting Tom, one of the agents convinces his partner to steal the money with him and write Tom off as a lying crackpot.Only things get real bad, real fast, and Tom is soon a wanted man, looked for both by honest FBI and the two crooked FBI agents, with guns fired and people dying.Oh and Tom didn't tell Annie ANY of this at all and now she is caught up in it after an are-you-kidding-me-you-are-a-bank-robber conversation after being shot at and being chased with Tom in a car chase.I liked the premise, I liked the dynamics of both honest agents looking for Tom and the dishonest ones who wanted to kill Annie and Tom, with the main dishonest agent (Agent John Nivens, played by Jai Courtney) having to cover his tracks and lie to his superiors.Liam Neeson has again a "very special set of skills," using explosives, that was neat, but we only got hints of what he was doing in terms of preparation. In some scenes suddenly bombs are in place and there was no set up, none! They are wherever the plot needed them to be. That felt kind of a cheat.I think some of the movie was pretty formulaic. It wasn't bad, but it felt like a lot of other Liam Neeson movies. If you like his action-thriller movies you will probably like this. I did think the Tom-Annie relationship was well acted and believable, one of the best things about the movie. There are a lot of logic flaws in the movie, such as why Tom doesn't get a lawyer to negotiate a plea deal or why he assumed Annie would stay with him or why he let the agents go to the storage unit without him or even why confess at all. Also once Agent Nivens went evil he went all the way evil, no reluctance to do evil on top of evil, even when his partner had lines he would not cross. It's not a bad movie and I enjoyed it, pacing was decent.

This Worcester Native Enjoyed It!
Okay, so I was a little distracted by the fact that I recognized the locations for most scenes. The Callahan tunnel scene made me smile... it's actually done in a small tunnel near the Worcester Memorial Auditorium where they also staged his safe-cracking exploit.Overall, I enjoyed it. A simple, refreshing film without blood, guts, and overwhelming machismo. Yes, if you've been to Boston, the missing T-line and other Bean Town staples are evident, but that happens a lot in filming. Enjoy it for what it is; another good action flick by Liam N. With a detective who managed a pretty decent New England accent!

Excellent Film Well Worth Renting! One Of The Best Films We Have Watched For Some Time
Liam Neeson is excellent in this film (as he always is in all the films he stars in). The supporting cast is very good also and together they provide you with a good escape that we all can use right now. Forget the negative reviews. Way too often when I read the negatives I see people who suffer from the condition called paralysis by analysis. Just watch it and stop trying to analyze it to death. The only thing I found difficult to believe in this film was a thief that had successfully stolen $10 million dollars from the system now deciding to give it all back. Nah, not in this life, even for love. Think of how your love and you could live on all those millions. Some secluded island somewhere, you get my point.Really though, this was a good escape for my Wife and I and another one that Liam can put on his resume of successful films.

I enjoyed getting TAKEN in this movie
So it's typical cookie cutter Hollywood and predictable. It had more than a few flaws. Even I know that three million is going to be more then the two or three boxes they took. It certainly wasn't the nine million. They would have needed a bigger car.So it had flaws and Liam Neeson has deadpan acting skills kinda like Harrison Ford you get the same "character" every movie.I enjoyed it like I enjoy Die Hard movies and Liam played the same dark hero as "TAKEN" movies and why not. It seems to be a good fit for him.
