I used to work in the pet food industry. This food has been hands down the most affordable and readily available food that has such good ingredients.Ignore any negative review (for any food really) that says they gave it to their pet and right away got diarrhea. This can happen with any food and is exactly why there is a process to switching foods. Some dogs need longer than what is even recommended. In the end if the dog is still having issues then that food is just not for that dog when the food is amazing for another. Even my dog took several days of upset stomach while getting used to this food. By the end of a week his stool was perfect.I've seen reviews commenting about protein that is also innacurate and can be dangerous for a dog to have such missinformation. Higher protein is often not ideal. In fact, the only dogs you really want a high protein food for would be VERY energetic, active younger dogs. Too old and it's hard on the kidneys. Not active and your dog becomes overweight (particularly if you have a breed prone to weight issues).This food is great.

Would like to see another meat source the first ingredient is chicken meal which is great but the bad thing is the second ingredient is brown rice brown rice itself is a good ingredient but it should be lower on the list probably six or seven’s but the good thing is that it’s not white rice yes there should be at least one other meat sauce but considering the price I’ll give it a semi pass. As far as for my dog he loves it. Are usually feed RAW but during this COVID-19 it’s just too hard to go out all the time and find different sources to feed him. He’s a big German Shepherd just makes it a lot easier. His coat has stayed shiny and beautiful with no deterioration in quality since feeding this food. The price is right for how much you get and you cannot beat the free shipping. I hope everybody stays happy and healthy during this bad time and take care of your pets.God bless everybody.

Dog Food Advisor gives this brand an overall rating of "recommended" at 3.5 stars, but this chicken meal and rice formula gets a "highly recommended" four stars. That seems fair. All three of our dogs (rat terrier mix, border collie mix, and chihuahua mix) love it, and they seem more active and alert since we started feeding them this food. Moreover, two of the three were too thin, and this has put some needed weight on their bones. It seems to be a very good dry dog food, and it won't break the bank. It's always on sale somewhere, and $25-30 for a 40-lb bag is quite reasonable, especially given the quality of the food. I certainly don't hesitate to recommend it.Someone complained that this caused stomach upset, and I suspect that she didn't transition to the new food properly. Remember: Anytime you're planning to change your dogs' food, you MUST transition them gradually to the new food, or it's likely to cause bowel issues. You should start with about 20-25% of the new food and then increase that amount slowly over a week or two until you reach 100%. If you do this, your dogs won't have a problem. You may get lucky changing foods all at once, but why risk it? It's better for you and your dogs to be patient. If someone transitioned his or her dog(s) to this food properly, I would be shocked if it caused any kind of stomach upset.

And not all dogs need puppy food at all stages of life. They make another grain free version (sportmix chicken) that is excellent for dogs who get allergies and develop hotspots.By far the best dog food ever.Hands down.Do your research at dog food advisor!

I normally buy my dogs only Grain Free but with 2 dogs now, it was getting pretty expensive so I just wanted to check to see what other wholesome healthy dog food was available. I feed them dry in the morning and dry mixed with canned for supper. I still feed grain free in the canned food. I found this on Amazon and the price was about $28 for 40 lbs. I was paying about $50 for 30 lbs. I checked the Dog Food Adviser and the Chicken Meal and Rice was rated a 4 out of 5. The same score as the $50 brand.Honestly, I was not impressed when I first opened it. It look plain - little brown round food chunks. No visible pieces of carrot, or potato, or spinach, as some of the other foods I have purchased, but the dogs love it. I have had no problems with itching or allergies of any kind.I was disappointed when I went to buy another bag yesterday and the price had jumped to over $50. I was about to do some more research but today I checked and it was down again to $29, so you have to keep checking it. It has lasted over a month feeding it 2 times a day to 2 dogs. Can't beat that for healthy dog food.
