This globe is more than I had expected, even from the photos on Amazon and at the Repogle site itself. It is a thing of beauty. Every detail, from the sturdy, multi-colored wood stand (I think the perfect height for sitting with the globe and reading it) on top of a weighted metal support (all easily assembled), to the globe itself—a colorful, easy-to-read, up-to-date globe where you can smoothly skim your fingers over the Apennines and Alps, for instance, and get a real sense of the larger terrain. I had just finished reading Endurance, about the Shackelton attempt at crossing Antartica in 1914-16, and wanted to really experience what the area that they confronted during the expedition was like. The Weddell Sea, Elephant Island, and so on. You can't experience that on a flat map. But on this globe, everything seems to come to life. The globe came directly from the company in Illinois via FedEx within four days, far faster than was predicted on the Amazon site. It was securely packaged, and the globe and its stand were in perfect condition. Kudos to Repogle and to the folk who designed the map for the globe and the entire design of the product itself.

Very nice globe but I thought it was pricey but I had to pay that to get one on a stand.

I purchased this for my daughter's classroom as a Christmas gift . I unboxed it to make sure it was nice and it is. Especially for the price.

It looks exactly like the picture. The lines are aligned on the upper and lower part of globe. The only warning that I can give is that in the product description it say it could be easily converted to a desk top. I thought that perhaps the stand could be divided to two and become and only half be used for a desk top version, but the stand pole is one piece and if you want to use it as desk top, you need to screw the disk on the bottom directly to the place that the pole was attached to the metal that holds the globe, and I don't think it is going to look good and besides it seems to be too big for a desk top. But as a stand up globe for my son's room is perfect.

I really like this globe. It was to assemble out of the box. The country maps are easy to read and it spins without any problems. I have had this for several years and no complaints. Would buy again.

It's fine, and it works and looks good. I've owned it for 8 years now. The only problem I have is its construction. If you look at the picture, you'll see there's a little screw that holds the globe to the wooden base. That screw loosens over time by hollowing out the wood where the screw is inserted. With use, it basically makes the screw hole larger than the screw. However, there's no way to completely remove or reattach the screw. Think about it. How do you get a screw driver between the globe and the screw head? Occasionally I'll give it another try, and I've been doing so for years. No one else can figure it out either, so it sits there a little loose.

This was purchased as a gift and the recipient (my mother-in-law) was very happy with it. Although not necessary I would suggest buying a three inch 10X magnifying glass for those with close-up vision problems. I purchased a good quality magnifying glass with a similar type wooden handle on Ebay for about $15.00 to go along with the gifted globe. The 12" globe is an ideal size because it doesn't take up much space but a smaller globe would be harder to read.The stand is of good quality and can be converted to desktop or floor use very easily.For the price I was very impressed with the construction of this replogle model globe and would not hesitate to buy another.

I bought this to keep me updated with all of the changes going on in the world, and so I can find things easily, besides teaching my granddaughter geography as she is home schooled. She picked it right up starting at 3 yrs old, and can tell me all the oceans already. I love having it handy to look up places you hear of on the news and all.
