I have purchased more than 1,000 books and other products from Amazon over the past half dozen years, and this is the first and only product I felt compelled enough to write a review. (I also have NO affiliation with the manufacture or supplier of this or any other product.)Along with all previous reviewer positive comments, I hope it helps for you to consider my decision to buy 3 more of these, after using my first one for several days: one more for my recently purchased second weather treated hardwood patio chair Strathwood Gibranta All-Weather Hardwood Arm Chair, Set of 2, another for my recently purchased folding aluminum frame director's chair Ming's Mark SL1204-BLUE Blue Full Back Folding Director's Chair, and one for my high end leather recliner--to completely relieve my increasing bothersome lower back pain over the past year associated with sitting in other standard designed high quality chairs 8 to 12 hours most days of the week for the past 3 years (while researching and writing a book)--DESPITE my historically excellent physical fitness, nutrition and health status.In short, as a neurobiologist with a specialty in functionally improving severely physically and neurologically impaired elderly, I highly recommend you also consider this product along with the manufacturer's Obus Forme Ergonomic Seat cushion Obus Forme Ergonomic Seat, Black (which I also bought on Amazon, one to test, then 3 more as well) to help relieve (as they have for me), and prevent, common seating INDUCED poor posture related lower back pain.Be well!

Recently a nagging lower back problem got progressively worse, and I knew it was time to make a few adjustments to how I sit; both at home and work. I felt a little desperate so I jumped right to one of the pricier options instead of the cheaper back supports that I've seen around and even tested. This item is well worth the additional money.You might think of this as primarily for a desk chair, but I actually used it first in our recliner couch. After watching about an hour of TV, I could already feel a difference. And when I stood up, a huge improvement! No stiffness, less soreness, and generally just felt better. I took it to work the next day and same results -- less stiffness after working on the computer for 90 minutes (I try to make myself stand up and move every 60-90 minutes). And at the end of the work day, I felt much more mobile and less pain than I've had in a few months.Just as important as the support, it's also very comfortable. You really forget it's there. Because of it's taller shape that conforms to your back, it stays in place. I can also comfortably recline all the way back on our sofa and even took a bit of a nap with it!I'm writing this review after about 2 weeks of regular use, and my husband and I both have decided this is a must have for anywhere that we sit regularly.

Helps decrease back pain when sitting

I purchased this because my chair at work was uncomfortable. I find most chairs to be poorly designed in terms of the chair back not protruding forward enough to meet the back. When I got this it definitely relieved a good deal of my back stress and allowed for better posture when seated. I found I was comfortable and not as worn out at the end of the day with back aches. The smaller piece in the front comes off an you can move it about as you like. There is also a stretchable strap for securing it to a chair which tightens with two different buttons. There is all a small carrying handle on the side if you need to take it to and fro. It does not make your chair look goofy and it works as I thought it would. It's just fabric and some hard plastic-like substance inside. It is durable material and well made. I would purchase it again if I lost mine. I would not recommend this for anyone who wants to use it in a car with bucket seats as it will not fit correctly. This one is best for office chairs in my opinion. The company also makes versions of back rests for cars which are designed differently for that need.

I have had this backrest now for over a year. I sit in a chair most of my day at work and unfortunately do not have the greatest posture. Immediately, I loved the Obus Forme. As time went on, I still had issues with my posture and it did not relieve me of all my previous backpain from sitting so much. I would recommend this cushion if the alternatives are far more expensive. I could not do without it anymore as it is definitely better than just my regular office chair. But, I believe their are better options out there even maybe in the form of a more ergonomic chair. Unfortunately, those run in the hundreds to thousands.Overall, I would recommend this as the more economical alternative to an affordable backrest.

I have had this support device for about a week shy of two months. I am absolutely satisfied that this device is as good, or better than most any other like device on the market. I use it on a straight-back rocking chair. It is very durable and provides excellent lumbar support. Initially, I was concerned that the small strip of Velcro behind the support pad would not last and that the pad would start slipping. Wrong!!! Perhaps, if I had a need to frequently re-adjust the pad's position then, of course, the Velcro would be insufficient. But, I have not had such a need and the pad is firmly attached.Not only is the pad supportive, but the frame is very firm and is shaped to provide the bulk of the support that I need.I think it would be a mistake to frequently move this device from one location to another. Under such conditions, I can see where the durability of this device might be diminished. Instead, It might be a better idea to purchase another device.

Had to return item because when I use it in both my car and a seat at home it actually hurt my back.
